vor I Ms. Lattanzi, a business teacher at Lassiter, sponsored this year ' s DCT and VICA club. Members of the VICA club com- peted in contests of leadership and skill areas in February and March. Activities honoring the employers and the stu- dents were held in the spring as a social break from the work each member was required to do. In December, food bas- kets were given to the needy in tradition of the season. VOT was sponsored by Ms. Thompson this year. VOT was an office-training organization which prepared students for work in an office or business environment. FBIA FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) was sponsored by Ms. Thompson this year. As a business oriented club, improving skills in business and professional fields were the main goal achieved by the seventy-seven members. By having the same mutual interest in busi- ness and professional fields, competing against other schools at events such as the FBLA Competition was very easy for these future business leaders. Tom Dechman sponsored this year ' s Chess Team. The four teams were the largest in the state wWh five players in each. The members belonged to such organizations as the U.S. Chess Feder- ation, the Georgia Chess Federation, and the Georgia Scholastic League. Tournaments lasted anywhere from twelve to sixteen hours to several days; the winner often receiving a cash award. With the team ranked in the top four in the state of Georgia, the level of play by the best players was quite sophisticat- ed.

The French Honor Society members enriched their knowledge of the French cul- ture by singing songs and en- joying entertainment in French under the guidance of Ma- dame Sterling. Dining on French cuisine exposed the members to new culinary de- lights. The students also wrote beautiful French poetry, which strengthened their writ- ing skills. Selling Christmas messages and sponsoring a French creative writing con- test rounded out this year ' s activities. Mademoiselle Tynes spon- sored this year ' s French Club. A celebration of Mardi Gras and a trip to the Biltmore House in Asheville, North Carolina were among the ac- tivities of this year ' s club. The Festival of Trees was the first annual Christmas activity sponsored by the French Club, and it proved to be a great success. The French Club sponsored the First Annual Festival of Trees on December fifth. The Festival included many different Christmas trees which were decorated by several of Lassiter ' s clubs. Games and food added to the day ' s festivities. Santa Claus visited from the North Pole to the delight of the little children and made the day a tremendous success.
