A. A. The Girls' Athletic Association is an organization in the Lassen Union High School which welcomes girls who enjoy and want to excel in sports. The girls were fortunate in having two new sports added to their list, archery and swimming. The tirst activities in these sports were a swimming party held at the Roosevelt Swimming Pool, and an archery tournament, which was won by the luniors. The regular sports season began with speedball. Class games were played, with the senior class victorious. lnter-class games in badminton and ping-pong were played, with about ninety members participating. During the winter, basketball tournaments were played, with the seniors again the Victors. On October 23, a play day was held in Greenville, which many ot the girls attended. The annual G. A. A. banquet was held at the Grand Cate on March l6. The All-Star team was announced at this banquet. The Freshman girls have shown a better record in sports than any other Freshman class in previous years. There are one hundred girls in the G. A. A. this year and many have received letters and awards for their participation and sportsmanship. A. A. members participating in badminton this year. The school championship was Won by Betty To Buckles, followed by Maclelyn Gravier, Alice Fox, Frances Silva, Eleanor Mantredini, Phyllis Wiencke, .Alma Bust, and Frances Waits. GIRLS' TENNIS Many girls participated in this year's tennis tournament. Kathryn Hill was the school champion, tollowed by Pauline Sanchez, Frances Etcheto, Nadene 'Wemple, Leonore Hill, Phyllis Wiencke, and Naomi Wemple. GIRLS' SPEEDBALL A large number ot girls came out tor speedball, which made the games very interesting. The championship was taken by the senior team. Marie Hagata was captain of the victorious team.
