TUIVIBLING - BOXING - WRESTLING Fathers' Night and the American Legion Smoker were the only two places of exhibition in which the boys participated in boxing, wrestling and tumbling. There were twenty boys who made their boxing letters, two who earned a wrest- ling letter and ten boys were awarded letters for tumbling. TENNIS Tennis was delayed this spring because the weather did not permit earlier practicing. Tournaments were scheduled with Alturas, Reno, Westwood, Fall River, and Adin. The winner of the sub-league tournament that was held at Susanville on May l4, was sent to the Northern California finals. The first tournament with Westwood resulted in a tie. SWIMMING Swimming as an extra-curricular activity was introduced to the students for the first time this year. There were not very many participants in this newly accepted sport, but more have shown a desire to enter. There were only two meets, both being with Reno. As a result of these meets seven cups were won by our relay team, and Leroy Kayser, free style paddler. In May of 1938 a meet was scheduled with Sacramento. Swimmers were also sent to Grant Union to enter G. I. E. competition. Mr. Hebbe of Roosevelt Pool assisted in coaching the team. BASEBALL The nine representing Lassen did not get under way until late in the year. This was due to the late track season and the unfavorable weather. Games were played with Westwood and other nearby schools. 44519
