DRAMATICS The Dramatics Club, which was organized in March, consists of all high school students interested in dramatics. The club sponsored a candy sale on April 1. A banquet was given in the last week in April. Programs given by the club during the year were: Little Prison, given on the Parents' Night in November, with a cast of Pauline Sanchez, Virginia Layton, Harriet Carrick, lean Wright and Cleo Olson, and a scene from Mary of Scot- land, with Marie Hagata and Iean Wright in the leading roles, was presented before the Business and Professional Women's Club, and on Parents' Night. Pantomimes and readings were given for the 20-30 Club by Marilyn Denton. A Christmas Pageant was held on December 22. The Dramatics Club as a whole has enthusiastically supported such dramatic events of the school as the senior play, Growing Pains, and the junior play, Ghost Ship. The closing play presented on April 28th was Grandma Pulls the String, with Marie Hagata, Marilyn Denton, lean Wright, Katherine Blackmer, lane DeCoito and Ernie Carman in the cast. DEBATE CLUB For the first time in 10 years, the high school has organized a debate club under the direction of Mr. Collyer. The club was organized in the early spring with seven charter members: Dick Fuller, lay Gibson, Herbert Hershey, Iim McNamee, Euland McLaughlin, Ed Garza, and lim Wirick. The officers are: Dick Fuller, President: and Ed Garza, Secetary. At the time of going to press, the club had debated with the Lassen I. C.'s, but were scheduled to debate with Reno High School, Westwood, and Alturas. The club has made a good start, and promises to become one of Lassen's most successful clubs. BLCCK L The following officers were elected this year: President, Marion Larrea, Vice- President, lim Bennett: and Secretary-Treasurer, lohn Evans. New boys were initiated: Iohn Evans, Raymond Ellena, Iunior McDonald, Alfred Iohnson, lack Marden, Goodwin Horigan, Ernie Thompson, Kim Hill, and Frank Soloaga. The initiation was followed by a feed for the members and faculty. QSQQ

THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT This department is composed of the band, the orchestra, the girls' chorus, the beginners' band, and the beginners' orchestra. The band played at games, rallies and other school affairs. The orchestra entertained at school plays, the graduation exercises, and pageants. The girls' chorus sang at P.-T. A. meetings, the Christmas pageant, the Hi-links, and school assemblies. They sang at Bacca- laureate and at graduation exercises. The beginners' band served as training for band and orchestra. The Music Festival held on April 29th promises to be an annual event. All sections of the music department participated in this event. The Lassen Dance Orchestra, a new organization developed into an artistic and financial success, playing on numerous occasions, with gross receipts of two hundred and forty dollars.
