Having a considerable amount of money in the treasury the club was able to carry out journalism enterprises dur- ing the year. A Press Club banquet and dance was given on April 15. F. F. A. The Future Farmers of America enjoyed an active year. On August 28, 29 and 30 they displayed livestock in the Lassen County Fair, followed by entries in the State Fair at Sacramento. An initiation for new members was held in October. The big social event of the year was the Annual Barn Dance in February with a large turnout of students and townspeople. Members of the organization entered a public speaking contest with Edward Garza Winning the Northern California regional contest at Chico. Later Edward represented Northern California at Los Angeles. A second public speaking con- test was held. Reed Graham, the winner, tied for honors in the regional finals and earned a trip to Oakland to visit the Production Credit Association headquarters. The Amateur Active Arachne club has been one of the most active and pro- gressive clubs in the high school during the past year. First of the several parties given during the year was the annual Kids' party, held on October 29. The outstanding party of the year was the formal initiation held on February 28. On April 8, the Spring Fashion Tea was held featuring clothing contributed by local stores, and made by the sewing classes. The annual conference at Chico took place on May 7.
