lVl'ili Day, l950 I939 l948 l962: The bank of the Charles liiver is crowded with excited Lasellitcs, some spectators, some waiting their turn to stroke their class to victory in the races. It's a bright and beautiful day, and wc've been looking forward to this for a long time. At last around the bend in the river come the red canoes. We shade our eyes against the shine of sun on water, get our cameras ready and at the exact moment snap a picture of the lead canoe--its captain, our Miss Mac. This snapshot doesn't have to be developed, for we will always remember the way Miss Mac looked on River Day and through all the long spring days before that when she coached us at Crew. We'll remember too, her consistent humor and sportsmanship. Those of us who are able to meet Miss Mac only in her ollicial capacities as Assistant to thc Dean or llcad of the Physical Education Department, will find she displays in business those same qualities that endeared her to those she coached. Although she is often to be found in the Gym Ollicc, on the hockey field, driving the station wagon or smiling from behind her desk in the Main Oflicc, her real home on Campus is at Mrs. l.indquist's. There she spends her limited free time brewing excellent coffee which she refuses to drink, and talking up a passion against bridge. Canasta, she claims, is a bit more to her liking. It doesnit take brains to play it! All of us who know her canit help but smile at this, for we are aware of the job she has juggling schedules, rooms and prospective students. She loves sleep but never gets enough, probably because she spends so much time doing things for other people. 1 She has a tremendous sense of humor, is always cheerful aml entertaining. Whenever we see the tall blond figure striding across Campus, hands in pockets, we're sure of a quick wave of the hand and a greeting by name. . Miss Macis wonderful smile and warm blue eyes welcomed us even before wc were students, and at Com mcneement she is the last to say good-bye. Throughout the year we come to her with our problems, confident that, whatever their nature, they will receive her full consideration. We know too, that she is an expert judge of character, and it behooves us to be as sincere in our dealings with her as she is with us. In years to come, when we think back to our time here, we will immediately think of Miss Mac, remembering all that she has done for us and for the college. Lasell is Miss Mac and Miss Mac is Lasell. 4.
