Morning The sun rises over the mountain to the east and pushes the slowly from the halls of the school. The buildings and walks, the courts and fields begin to radiate a little heat in the early morning. A few men work quietly about the campus, watering the lawns, adjusting the building temperature, fixing a broken pipe. There is one man out on the football field, cleaning and raking beneath the stands. Another looks to emptying the waste cans, discoursing to himself about the chilly bite of the morning air. Soon all will retire to the Janitor's Room, there sip a little hot coffee, and relax after these first daily chores. Meanwhile, Mrs. Wilcox, Mr. Long's secretary, will let herself into her office adiacent to the Principal's. Once settled she'll begin to sort the mail newly arrived . . . Mr. Long, Mr. Long, Mrs. Wilcox Chmj, Mr. Long . . . Just as she turns to another task of filing some miscellaneous papers, the Principal will step into the office. Mrs. Wilcox, has Mr. Gray called me yet this morning? No, sir, he hasn't. Surprised at this answer, Mr. Long will walk briskly into his own office, take his customary place behind his desk and dial the Superintendent of Schools at the Administration Building, at the same moment begin to read some of the mail his secretary gave to him. Across the hall, l.ouella, who will arrive early in order to have suf- ficient time to prepare a special notice to the teachers, will turn to the actual printing of the item. The faculty comes to school in ones and twos. They'll look into their boxes, exchange a casual morning greeting, and walk through the halls to their rooms. In the meantime, two seniors, the two on this page, will roll out of their beds, a stretch, a yawn, they'll notice by The Clock that it's 7:30, and time for another six hours of school. They'll dress, wash, scoop a little breakfast Qor miss it entirelyj, and be ready to depart. The Boy usually picks the Girl up. They've been seeing a lot of each other lately. When they arrive on the Las Vegas campus, they'll start immediately for the front lawn or the study hall to converse with their companions before the bell. The boy might check The Clock to determine how much time there is before 8:30, the hour school begins. Clt's good to mention this. The Clock runs the schedule at school. lt tells what and when to everyone. lt can be found almost everywhere on the campus. In this annual, every five, ten pages or so.j When the bell does ring, Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen will crowd through the main doors into the halls and to their Morning classes. School officially begins then. But all this is a few hours away. Right now the campus is very quiet lonely. There's nobody around. The only sounds are the sounds of a leaves rustling across the front lawn and swirling up the steps and chirp of a lone bird perched somewhere in the trees that line the walk. Yes, it's very quiet and lonely and nice to see . . . By the
