DEAN OF GIRLS The Las Lomas Code of Ethics is particularly sig- nificant tor our school, Although it is printed on the back oi the Knights' Guide, and copies are posted in each classroom l would like to repeat the key words adopted by our students: Loyalty, Attitude, Scholar- ship, Leadership, Obligation, Maturity, Appreciation, and Sportsmanship. These goals may seem high, but the students are working earnestly to achieve them. The first, that of Loyalty, includes most of the others in a broad sense. There is truly a fine spirit of loyalty on the part ot our student body to the school and to those principles for which it stands, The students display pride in Las Lomas and the parents and faculty are proud of the students and oi their excellent attitudes and achievements. lt is our hope that the seniors will attain future suc- cess and that they will carry on with the fine loyalty shown here. lt is also our feeling that the other students will continue to enjoy and contribute to the excellent spirit at Las Lomas. KATHRYN TAYLOR DEAN OF BOYS Time passes quickly. The year 1956-1957 has seen a great period oi consolidation in the traditions that have become Las Lomas High School during the past six years. We have become, in this short span of years, a powerful influence upon those about us in all phases of the school environment. In order to pre- serve our place, it is the moral obligation of each student to make a success of today and then we need not worry about tomorrow. We repeat, time passes quickly. There is nothing we can do about it as in- dividuals except to see as far as possible that it passes truitiully. Each and every one oi us must always l.eep in mind during our daily endeavors for ourselves and Las Lomas that, whether we will it or not we cannot iourney without leaving footprints, and others will follow where we go because we have marked the way. Mr. Gordon Gibson, Mr. Robert Rowe, Mr. Merrill Callow, Mr. Burk Faraola, Miss Melissa Rose, Mr. Iumes Norton, Head Counselor.

MH. NEIL M. PARSONS PRINCIPAL Six years have passed cmd Las Lomas has grown from a small to a large high school. At times it is even difficult to realize that, despite rapid growth, the teachers and students are still closely united. And we hope that Las Lomas will always be known as a friendly school with a wonderful spirit and with the informal and relaxed atmosphere which we consider so precious. We at Las Lomas have just completed another year -H-successful in scholarship, citizenship, and sports- manship. Our school has been recognized as a leader among schools in California because of its outstand- ing faculty, excellent guidance, and exceptional stu- dent body. You, as students, are to be complimented on the excellence of your teams in athletics, for the record you have shown in scholarship, and for the leadership you have shown in student body govern- ment. Your parents and the members of the community have made these accomplishments a realization. We are all highly indebted to those who have made pos- sible our football field lights this year and we recog- nize the many fine contributions that have been given us in years past. SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHCOLS Mr. Neil Parsons, as the Superintendent of the Acalanes High School District, is responsible for co- ordinating curriculum and personnel planning, and is concerned with matters of finance and school construc- tion in our area. Since Mr. Parsons' election to this office in l94l, educational facilities of the Lafayette, Walnut Creek, and Orinda communities have been greatly expanded. At one time Acalanes High School represented our district. Now, Las Lomas and Miramonte High Schools have been added to alleviate the congestion in the Walnut Creek and Orinda areas. Already, Mr. Parsons and the members of the Board of Trustees are planning conferences with school planners and architects to prepare for a fourth high school--'tentatively slated for Walnut Creek. MR. LELAND S. RUSSELL BOARD OF TRUSTEES LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Curl Newbury, Mr. Will C. Hall. Mrs. Alice McBride, Mr. William Freeman, Mr. Ralph Hall.
