' We pay tribute to the part played in this growth by the first class to graduate from Las Lomas High school . . . the Class of 'I955. ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY After months of planning by Superintendent Neil Parsons and the Board of Acalanes High School Dis trict, Las Lomas High School was first opened in Sep- tember of l95I. During the past four years we have Q seen the completion of thirty four classrooms, a metal and wood shop, gymnasium, locker rooms, multi-use room, stage, administration and counseling offices and a library. This year nearly 760 students are enrolled at Las Lomas. Estimates indicate that as many as 1800 stu- -- dents may be attending this high school by 1960. NEIL M. PARSONS Miramonte, the third high school in the Acalanes dis- Dlsffid Superintendent trict, is now under construction at Orinda. The dedicated efforts of Principal Leland S. Russell have been of incalculable importance to the successful growth of Las Lomas High School. Working closely with parents and civic organizations, Mr. Russell has guided faculty and students through four years of fruitful de- velopment. The first milestone has novv been reached. Las Lomas, under his competent administration, has now become a highly respected four year high school. LELAND S. RUSSELL Principal EDWARD E. N, RON FIFIELD SOCIAL EVENTS The Student Council, composed of Student Body officers and or- ganizational representatives, plays a vital part in the life of Las Lomas. Because of the members' conscientious efforts, student govern- ment has progressed by leaps and bounds. This year the Council's accomplishments include the establishment of the House of Representatives, the Council of Organizations, the Snack Bar and an organized school budget. One factor contributing to the great success ofthe Student Council this year was the formal conducting of meetings as introduced by Mr. Burk E. Faraola, Leadership instructor. PRESlDENT'S MESSAGE We, the Seniors are now beginning to realize the serious and sober responsibilities that confront us in the too near future. Four years ago, one hundred and fifty sudents and a staff of seven teachers, laid the foundations for the Las Lomas that we have all learned to honor and love. ln this brief span of time we have seen our student body grow from this small nucleus to an organizational government that will be a potential force in shaping future policies of our school. Athletic teams of Las Lomas have brought out wonderfully, the true spirit of the school, and all of us can point with pride to the two sportsmanship trophies awarded us in football and basketball by the note of our fellow athletic league members. To have been president of the Student Body during its first grad- uation year is an honor that I will always cherish. l wish to thank all of you for the gallant support you have given to our Student Council and to me during this past year. Your co-operation and spirit of loyalty has made the Class of '55 and all of Las Lomas what it is today. 71 .wf geffa .-., Seated L. to R.: Ken Stevens, Nick McGrath, Pat Dougherty, Jerrie Kennerly, Diana Woodland.
