serve? as 2 Bit 2 sears!!! This year's volleyball team had PRIDE . and COURAGE. They had a fantastic team and juniors led the pack! Even though the team had ups and downs, our LCHS girls learned a lot throughout the season. Along with new players, came a new coach, Mr. Leu- pold. He has coached many sports, such as basketball, football, tennis, yet he thinks that his girls and volleyball are the greatest! At the beginning of the season Mr. Leu- pold sized up the team by saying, For the most part the girls worked well as a team, considering the lack of exper- ience. Las Cruces High volleyball had plenty of potential and opportunities, they started off slowly, but they all wound up being terrific friends. Our great LCHS volleyball girls had lots of talent and good attitudes. They also played the best volleyball that they could master. 1986 jv volleyball I , . scorecard REGULAR SEASON DAWGS OPP. Mr. Leupold said, lt's the quality, not the quantity that counts. When asked who the MVP would be, he told us, lf we had one, it would be Angela Paz. Angela, a senior, was a returning All-district selection from 1984-85. Potential, discipline, and spirit is what this years volleyball team consisted of. These are all qualities which will eventu- ally lead to great success at Las Cruces High. Although volleyball was rather time consuming and tiring, all members of the team will agree that every inch of their hard work was well worth it. Memories of great times shared on the road and terrific friendships that devel- oped due to participating in volleyball, will remain with all the girls in the years to come. shampisns f 1 Shoulder pads, sweat, pain, helmets, long hot hours in the sun ..... FOOT- BALL!! These words and a whole lot more are a perfect description of every- thing football involves. During the sum- mer the Las Cruces High, ready to go team, was on the go with practices from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily, and as the school year drew closer they had two a day practices, which consisted of everything from weight lifting to study- ing new plays. Not only did the Bulldawg football team practice in the summer, but when school began, football became a sixth hour class. This was something new at L.C.H.S. and proved to be successful. Sixth hour class allowed for less time of after school practices and more time for homework and sleep! Unfortunately, the season opened with a loss at El Paso High. Bulldawg fans were filled with school spirit and ready to lf FHKSS HQQFG cheer their team on to victory. Although Bulldawg spirit wasn't enought, every- one kept faith that the team would be a good one! The Bulldawgs went on to play the Bowie Bears, which gave every- one a taste of sweet victory, but that turned out to be the only win after four games played by the Varsity Dawgs. Even though games were lost, L.C.H.S. kept a positive outlook. None of the members of the team ever gave up and none of the fans ever stopped rootin' for the Dawgs. Unity truly prevailed throughout the season, with big turn outs at the games and with tremendous sportsmanship. Scores will never show all the work and pride that went into the making of the L.C.H.S. Varsity team of 1986, and scores will likewise never show that the team of '86 were champs in their own right! if 'T' Relentless in their cheering, the wild bunch cheers our football team on, at every game. Rowdy and enthusiastic are each one of the members of the Wild Bunch. They have also proved their creative- ness with cheers and chants written by talented members. M Q. .
