Valedictorian '?'f5!?'i The dictionary defines vale- dictorian as one who gives a message of farewell. To me, it aught to be as much hello as fareweII . Farewell to the good times and friends of school, hello to the future good times and new friends. Farewell IQ the only life we have known for l2 years, hello to the unknown experi- ences of the rest of our lifetime. Fare- well to our teachers, who each in his own way have added something to our lives, hello to those from whom we may learn in the years ahead. Farewell to life in its comparative ease and shelter-- though we may not have thought so at the time, hello to life on our own. . The hello and farewells can- not be separated, however. Without our past experiences, we could not be saying hello so cheerfully, so eager- ly, so optimistically to the future. To all those who have aided us so much, we wish to extend our heart- felt thanks. Marilyn Wilson Salutatorian f' s f ew w Vx- -gv - 1 X ' N- ff Tonight, I have the distinct honor to welcome you to this affair. Al- though this may be a tribute to the ,Senior Class of 1954, lwould like to honor you--our parents, teachers, and friends--for the splendid leader- ship and advice you have given us. Without you to encourage us and the former alumni, America would not be the free land of opportunity and free education. We, the Senior Class of l954, are about to depart from the school which we kmw so well. lnto all walks of life we shall go, but none will be more enioyable than our days at Larwill High School. ln conclusion, I wish to thank you, our parents, our teachers and friends, for the guiding light which you have given us--the class of 1954--and to further welcome you to this and forth-coming senior affairs. Everett Schuman
