August 1946, as Freshmen, we started with 45 members. Susan Wolfe, Isabel Werstler, Phil Groves, Bill Kessie, Paul Bills, Alvin Martz, and Forrest Van Voorst of Troy, Richard Barnes Kenneth Boggs, Harlow and Marjory Barney, Lou- ise Buntain, Shirley Brunner, Cloyce Burnworth Harold Cramer, Stanley Duggins, Nancy Evans, Carol Gaff, La Dial Hawn, Carroll Holycross, Eloise Keirn, Wilodene Kemery, Vivian Kile, Robert Landis, Beverly Menzie, Marilee and Marilyn Miller, Jolene Overmyer, Mary Pichard, 555' Robert Reid, Treva Rubrake, James Ruckman, Charles Simon, Jerry Smith, Rex Ward, Dwight Widman, Joyce Wilkinson, Ina Wilson of Larwill Mary Jennings and Paul Creager, Colu bia Twpg Sue White, Indianapolis, James Ferraro, South Bend. Two parties were held during the year. Mr. E. Holycross was class sponsor. Rex Ward was elected President, Mary Jennings, Vice-presi- John Fulk dent, Isabel Werstler, Secretary and Treasurer Senior, Junior Play Louise sustain, reporter, Treva Hum-aka, His- Softball 3,4 torian. Basketball 2,5 Hi-Y 3,4 SOPHOMORE year begun with SO members. Newcom- B0OSteI' Club 3:4 ers were Carolyn Harris, Martha Baxter Sc John Purdue C0f1fSI'9I1C9 Fulk. Martha, Cloyce, James and Bill left dur- Plflg Pong 2 ing the year. Miss Jean Plummer was sponsor. The first party was at the shelter house in Columbia City, the second, at Susan Wolfe's. Louise, Jolene, and Eloise were in the oratoricalg Eloise won for the class and second place in the local. The Junior class showed a marked decrease for Beverly, Mary and Ina, it was wedding bellsg Phil, Harold, lreva, La Dial, Charles, and Dwight work. Cross Country team members were Harlow and Paul. Louise was a county oratorical contestant. Miss Norma Fowler was the Junior class sponsor. October 28-29, NJust Ducky,W class play was given by Eloise, Jerry, Carroll, Marjory, Louise, John, Shirley, Rex, Robert, Jim, Stan- ley and Sue. The first semester party was a trip to Avilla to see the production of WJust Ducky.W Eloise Keirn was elected Vice President to fill the vacancy. The class flower, tulipg colors, maroon and white, a motto, WNot finished, just begun, were selected. The girls won the inter-class tourney. A Junior-Senior Reception was a major event of the spring--a dutch theme--dancing class from Ft. Wayne for floor show. Senior year, 24 former class members were joined by Jim Grant of Muske- gan, and Robert Shook '49. Vivian Kile withdrew near the end of first semester. A magazine sale was the first major campaign. Annual was begun early in the year. Pictures were taken by Robert's Studio, Oct- ober 14, and later undergrades aid annual groups. An All-High-School- Christmas party was sponsored December 22. Zhe civics class went to a Guidance Day program in Huntington. The first class party was held at the home of the class sponsor, Miss Esarey. The play, UComin' Round the Mountains,W was presented March SO and El. Tai cast included John, Shirley, Jerry, Bob, Louise, Marjorie, Sue, Isabel, Rex, Jim, Marilee, and Forrest. Closing activities for seniors included Award Night,Class Night, Reception, a trip and the final GRADUATION.
