X I Xf s'-,-,1 CLASS FLOWER The Senior Class of 1949 have chosen the white rose for the class flower. The rose is a symbol -of fragrance and loveliness. A white rose is the symbol of secrecy. Through all the centuries civilized man has praised the beauty of the rose above all other flowers. In the words of an ancient folk story the rose is qnken of thus: Nwhen God fashioned some of the unsightly things which must encumber the earth, wanting to show what beauty He could also create, He made the most beautiful thing of which He was capable, He with all his great powers. He made the rose. And ever since, when mankind wishes to express itself with the utmost beauty, it used God's symbol of beauty--it uses a rose.U The rose is started from asiip or cutting. Humans begin as a child and grow. We and the rose grow along together. The rose grows in stature and beauty, the child in stature, beauty, knowledge, community living and other characteristics of our modern community. The rose cannot grow without cultivation, pruning, and spraying, if it is to develop to its greatest beauty. Children, young men, women, and adults cannot grow to their highest and most useful place in life without ' home, church, community and educational training.
