JUNIGR CLASS HISTORY U 1 We, the Junior class of '42, consist of 30 members. In our freshman year, we started with 33 members and ended with 36. Ten of these -members come from Troy, very bashful but also intelligent, as Glen Western and Marion Gregory went to the Algebra Contest in North ' Manchester. Those re lost were: Betty Kennedy to South Bend, Verlin Loe to South Whitley, Helen Carper to Pierceton, Floyd Branden- burg to South Whitley, Darold Bryan to Sidney, Jack1fBebert decided to quit school and Pauline Firestone remained behind. Beginning our sophomore year we had 37 membersg Marcus Agler from Ohio, joined in'our march to knowledge, but Bill Hull left us for wolf Lake, Bill Winningham to South Whit- ley, and Ralph Webber left us for adventure. The sophomores showed skill in both work and play as Vivian Watters and Lura Belle Souder went to the Latin Contest in Fort Wayne and the sophomore girls won the interclass tourney in basket- ball. Betty Jeane Shook and Vivian Watters were elected corresponding secretary and vice-president respectively of the SSS who sent them to the SSS Camp at Camp Tecumeh for ten days. 'This year the Junior class has dropped to only 30 mem- bers, losing De Wayne Martz, George Eberly, and James 'Star- buck who decided to quit studying and enjoy farming. .Esther Boggs decided to try wed-lock rather' than finishing school. Billy Seibold left us for Fort Wayne, and Richard Sanson for South Whitley. Replacing these vacant places are Robert Boggs from North Webster and Mildred Firestone, who was ill. In the Junior year Dorothy Holycross and Veva Dean Beard will be delegates to the Latin Contest in Huntington. Betty Whitsleather was chosen as'one of the high school yell leaders and Lura Belle Souder, Joyce Menzie, and Thelma Johnson were in charge of the candy locker. Chosen for the Assembly Program Committee were Betty Jeanne Shook and Richard Lansdowne. The Junior boys were runners up in the Boys' Interclass And the Junior Girls won their Interclass, defeating lst the Freshmen, then the Seniors.
