Qi! HISTORY Thirty-three freshmen clambered aboard and set sail our ship toward an unknown destiny in the fall of '58 under the guidance of our sponsor, Miss Ruth Ann Thompson. When we looked over our report in the log again at the end of the year we found we had, two new members aboard, Argyle Beard and Maxine Hurd. Listed a- mong the missing were Bonita Hickman, Ruth Jackson, Wilbert North, and Valeta Suter. Our roll according to the log was then number- ed at thirty-one. In the fall of '59 we found a few more changes had been made. Robert Moore had l,ft'uS during the summer wnd Norbert Groves, Robert Hollopeter, Paul Groves, June Marker had enrolled, making us a total of thirty-four. In the fall of '40 we had thirty members with Robert Hollob peter and Norbert Groves missing and Arlls Orcutt joining our ranks. Phil Mosher left us in September to find work elsewhere, Glenn H olycross left in November to help his father on the fa- rm and Harriett Ward left in October to join the ranks of matrim- ony. Alyce Hill from Churubusco joined us in March which made us a total of thirty members. In the fall of '41 we had twenty-six members. Dale Johnston had left us to go to Columbia City, Addie Mae Cramer decided to do some other work, Mildred Firestone dropped back a year because of illness and Velma Hertsel decided to get married. Martha Jackson joined us from South Whitley. In January Harold Martz left us to go to Columbia City and Argyle Beard left us to help his father on the farm. During our four years of high school we have received our share of honors. In the freshman year Vielet Norris and Lois Sweeney wont to the Algebra Contest at North Manchester As Sophmores Robert Hollopeter went to the Latin Contest. Lauretta Cummins attended the Geometry Contest and we won the girls inter- class tourney for which we received a tropy. Violet Norris att- ended the Sunshine Camp at Camp Tecumseh for ten days in the summer of '40 and Ruth Johnson and Lwis Sweeney attended the Sun- shine Camp for ten days in the summer of '4l. We won the boy's interclass tourney this year. Dean Whitleather received the free throw medal in basketball. Our class colors are red and whiteg our class flower is the rosog and our motto is nLaunehed, but not nnchored.W The name of our annual nRefleetorN is to be used for all annuals hereafter. Our class sponsor is Miss Walters and Class officers are Edna Waterson, President: Lois Sweeney, Vice-President: and V101- et Norris, Secretary-Treasurer. . W JUNIGR CLASS HISTORY U 1 We, the Junior class of '42, consist of 30 members. In our freshman year, we started with 33 members and ended with 36. Ten of these -members come from Troy, very bashful but also intelligent, as Glen Western and Marion Gregory went to the Algebra Contest in North ' Manchester. Those re lost were: Betty Kennedy to South Bend, Verlin Loe to South Whitley, Helen Carper to Pierceton, Floyd Branden- burg to South Whitley, Darold Bryan to Sidney, Jack1fBebert decided to quit school and Pauline Firestone remained behind. Beginning our sophomore year we had 37 membersg Marcus Agler from Ohio, joined in'our march to knowledge, but Bill Hull left us for wolf Lake, Bill Winningham to South Whit- ley, and Ralph Webber left us for adventure. The sophomores showed skill in both work and play as Vivian Watters and Lura Belle Souder went to the Latin Contest in Fort Wayne and the sophomore girls won the interclass tourney in basket- ball. Betty Jeane Shook and Vivian Watters were elected corresponding secretary and vice-president respectively of the SSS who sent them to the SSS Camp at Camp Tecumeh for ten days. 'This year the Junior class has dropped to only 30 mem- bers, losing De Wayne Martz, George Eberly, and James 'Star- buck who decided to quit studying and enjoy farming. .Esther Boggs decided to try wed-lock rather' than finishing school. Billy Seibold left us for Fort Wayne, and Richard Sanson for South Whitley. Replacing these vacant places are Robert Boggs from North Webster and Mildred Firestone, who was ill. In the Junior year Dorothy Holycross and Veva Dean Beard will be delegates to the Latin Contest in Huntington. Betty Whitsleather was chosen as'one of the high school yell leaders and Lura Belle Souder, Joyce Menzie, and Thelma Johnson were in charge of the candy locker. Chosen for the Assembly Program Committee were Betty Jeanne Shook and Richard Lansdowne. The Junior boys were runners up in the Boys' Interclass And the Junior Girls won their Interclass, defeating lst the Freshmen, then the Seniors. At the beginning of the fall term those missing were Vera Cripe and Pauline Firestone, who quit schoolg Priscillae Mettler and Helen Leffel who both moved to Columbia Cityg and Rodger Hodges and Richerd Leutz, who moved away near the end of the year. Net members who were present at the beginning this year were Junior Plattner from South Whitley and John Dunn. Paul Kessie from Columbia City, joined our class in March. No one moved in or out since school started. There are sixteen boys and twenty-two girls, This class is the only high school class to have twins, Arlene and Maxine Kite. The following officers were elected: President-Argyle Jackson, Vice-presidentfD0r1s Deeter, and secretary-treasur- er-Jo Mary Watkins. Mr: Thurlo Schuh is the class sponsor, and Elaine Noble and Esther Martin are the freshman report- ers for the nHome Run:W Class colors are black and white. A Weiner-marshmallow roast was held in Jim Reids' woods for our first semester party and a roller skating party at the UHappy Valley Rinkn for the second semester. Those coming from Troy this year, are: Marlon Beard Jack Terman, Harold Snyder, Lowell Roblnette, John Werstler, Shirley Marrs, Doris Deeter, Orpha Watson, Olive Watson, Josephine Marker, Normgw Marrs, Lois Blanchard, and Esther Martin. Beverly Cripe came from Huffman School and Jim and Jr, Werrick came from Grass Creek, Fulton County.
