Parents, teachers, classmates, and friends, we of the graduating class of 1940 are about to depart from our school life into the world, we wish to express our sentiments on such depart- ure. We are not afraid ---- on every hand we are told and reminded of the cruel- ty, coldness, and fear of this world of curse Re.have every reason to face such Q world bravely and courageously, for haven't we been guided, taught, en couragsd, and comforted by you? The least we can do is express to you our gratitude and thanks. To you, the parents, we owe our gratitude for your helping us to acquire an education, that coveted asset provided by a free land. To you, the teachers, me are indebted for our position-b that of having acquired knowledge and intellect. Classmates, it has been so much fun being with you these four years ---- we will miss you more than you'll miss us. And to friends, we want to thank you for your interest in the school activities and programs. Now as we close our school activities, I want to express my desire that we all measure up to your expectations and not a one of us disappoints you for having been with us in the years of grand and glorious school life. Parents, Friends, and Teachers: We, the class of 1940, nn- tend a most cordial welcome. We have reached the end of our high school career and have come to the time we must part from our classmates and go out into the world to seek our individual careers, some to seek further education, o- thers to go elsewhere. But wherever we go or wmatever we do, some of the scenes and happenings that occurred while at Larwill High will re-echo in our minds. Many times we have tried the pa- tience of you, our parents, and teach- ers, but you unfailingly stood by us and helped us in every way you could, We are grateful to you for it. Let us say again that we, the class of l94O, bid you welcome.
