PROPHECY It was coming winter in 1942. The weather bureau had predicted it to be n long cold winter, so I thought I would take a trip to Florida and try to find a job there. I packed my things and went to the station to get on the Grey- hound. I stepped up into the Greyhound and was I surprised when I sow Glen Johnson in the drivers seatg I knew that he had always wanted to do something like that. I went back to find a seat and who do you suppose I met? It was Mary Ellen Groves, She told me she had just accepted a job as a dancer in a night club owned by Gerald Orcutt, in' Indianapolis Gerald running a night clubl Ho wonder he wanted to take Home Economics when he was a Senior. We arrived in Indiana- polis about noon, so I thought I might as well accompan Mary Ellen to the night club, We hunted up Gerald to tell him of our arrival and then set down for a bite to eat. Who do you suppose the waitress was?--Marilynno Menziel Boy! it was nice seeing her. ' I decided to go over to the State fair, so I hailed a taxi, and of all the orb drivers in Indianapolis, it turned out to be none other than Jack Hively saying, Uwhere to, Boss?U He then informed me that Edson was there with his prize hereford, so I thought I might as well hunt him up When I arrived I went to the cattle building and it wasn't long before I found Edson sitting on a bale of straw writing an editorial on NHow I raised a prize Hereford,n I sat down to talk to him for awhile when along cvme a big truck with a sign on the side, nSmith eentrncter.H4 Im ediatsly I thought of Keith Smith, and Edson said that I wie rinht. Keith had a contract for building some new buildings at the State fair grounds. .I dhen talked to Keith awhile and then decided that I would return to the circle and try to find the hospi- tal because I knew Jo Ann Filler and Helen Tuttle were going to take up nurses training. I had just get onto the road and started towards town when along came an old Vodel-A, It came to a stop and How- ard Reid said, NHop in if you're going to town. He then informed me that he was a dare-devil out at the speedway. That time he rolled over back in Larwill and didn't get hurt gave him the idea of Heins Q dare-devil. He sald that he drove his Model-A in the races and everytime he get it up'm 120 it had the most peculiar rattle. tith Howard diving me all this inside information on racing it wasn't long until ho had me rt my destination, I thanked him for the ride and started to the hospital, and as I went to enter, the door opened and out came Halen Tuttle. he stood and talked for a while and as she was being over to the chemical building to see if Jack Lstlick hvd made any prorress on his new cure for seven your itch, I went along. I asked how far it was over to the chemical building, and she said that it was a- bout lO blocks, so I hailed a taxi. QNQ, I don't know the

tried to teach me. I finally get to the station and who do you suppose I saw? Your right--it was the clerk. I bought my ticket and went outside to wait for the traing I didn't wait long until I heard something coming. No, it wasn't the train, but it was Dayne Wilkinson driving his new Inter- national truck. He had come to meet the train, as his Mother-in-law was coming for a vislt which Dayne was hoping wouldn't last long. At lest the train finally came and I was aboard and in my elect. I was hoping that I'd see some- one that I knew but the hope was all in vain. Believe it or not I really arrived in Florlda and while wondering about town I met Max Krldor going home to supper, and on inquiring I found that he was now a radlo announcer for station O-K. Yes, he invited me to supper and promised to take me to the beach afterward. We had a swell supper, thanks to the former Marjorie Hurd. -While wondering around the beach we came upon n beauty contest and who do you suppose was in it? None other than Martha Marrsl The contest lasted so long that we d1dn't have time to stay and see who won. I guess they were dc- bating whether to give it to Martha or another girl. I stayed at Max's house that night and the next day I went down to the winter training grounds of the New York Wild Cats and of course william Helfrich was in training. After I watched them practice for a day, they put me in mind of wild kittens that didn't have their eyes open. The next day I went to see Herman Steursel. I knew that he was in the Coast Guard. I was beginning to think that I had had enough of Flor- ida and I was also getting homesick, so I took an airplane back to Larwill. We were well on our way when a storm came up. They found it necessary to use the radio to guide them, but all that they could get was Lorraine Groves singing and when they couldn't get that they get Wanda.Lepley con- ducting a quiz on how airplanes are guided in a storm. We finally reached Larwill airport and decided that it would be good to stretch my legs so I started to walk the rest of the way home, and as I passed the hotel who do you suppose I saw? It was none other than Glenna Hoover still playing nursemaid to Teddy Easterday. I finally reached home and be- gan te count up those I had seen and I found that I had seen all my old classmates on my trip, -- - ffatwmd 0'-Wf-
