-1'-1 11x1 ' '11:1f1 a T NOT AT THE TOP, BUT CLIMBING We Seniors, the class of '59 Are steadily climbing up! Even though it's a hard, slow, steady climb, We're trying to reach the top. As we trudge along, a few rungs may break, We must mend them and journey ahead. We must work to get nearer the top, our goal, Though our feet feel as heavy as lead. Each step that we take brings us nearer the top: We must labor and suffer all pain. There's happiness, joy, and good will in success. Oh, what a grand goal to attain! There are many who falter, not watching their step, There are many who fall by the way But those who have courage and do what is right Will get to the top some day. Let us be a group of whom people can say, nThere's some youth who are carefully timing Each step that they take, I'm sure they'll succeed.' We're Not at the Top, But Climbing. Daurice Birch f'. am E Q S5525 ........ Nhat anguish, what dreams, what hopes, marked our as- cent to the last rung of the ladder in the fall of '58---but sorry to say, there were some who did not share in those feelings. Among these were, Dorothy Huggins, Helen Gebert, Marjory Young, who found interests in Bryan, Ohio, and Char- lotte Addison, who went to La Pel. Nevertheless there are thirty-four of us who through the course of these few years have successfully attained that for which we've been striv- ing, a high school education, with old Larwill High as our Alma Mater. nNot at the top, but climbingln After all, though, at the end of these twelve hard, but joyous and unforgetable years, we can not stop, but we must continue to press for- ward up the ladder which has risen still higher until we reach that plane where we may be able to find our place in the world, prepared to live a happy and worthy life, a life of service. Believe it or not!!! There have been 7 of the 29 who started just twelve long years ago to the first grade of Larwill School in 1927, who have not been bored with each other ----- Walter Krisher, Murray Keirn, Esther Souder, Treva Souder, Mary Beard, Mae Gebert, and Gladys Londt. Three big cheers for their perserverance!!!I Esther Ruth Souder CLASS FLOWER We, the class of '59, have chosen as our class flower the Varigated Sweet Pea. - - The Sweet Pea was first found in Sicily and even then found to be variable.. It was taken from its natural envir- onment and placed in laboratories where it was cultivated and cross-pollinated until many variations of the original Sweet Pea are now known all over the world. One of the most wonderful facts about the flower, is that it can be placed anywhere and it will grow with very little trouble. And so we, the Seniors of '59, expect to place oursel- ves in the world and grow with little or no trouble until we have reached the furthormost point of our ambition. Our highest goal is to cross-pollinate ourselves with our assoc- iatts and try to keep the outcome as sweet and pure as the Sweet Pea which we so proudly chose as our class flower.
