Qi1:'lf: f 'i'1Tf?-:WHY H ..., We, the Senior Class of '59 stepped upon the first rung of the ladder labeled Larwill High School as HFreshiesW, in the fall of '55. It was a memorable day in that class of 45 freshmen rude up of the nOld Stand-byesn of Richland Town- ship and those from both Etna and Troy Townships Whom we hardly knew but were soon to know and cherish as our class- mates of old Larwill Hight. During this first semester,'Dau- riee'Birch and Ruth Hile cane in 'too swell our crowd, but alas, Max Beasley and Paul Metzger, finding the first step too high, and Tayne Geiger hoping to join the ranks in an- other school, left us. Forty-four freshmen were able to successfully make the first step to the second step as soph- omores. School opened the next fall 119567 to fin the loss of Robert Jellison, Ronald Taylor, and Arland Walker who were pursuing their courses:elsewhcre.' In their stead came Glenn Moore, our little blond Dutch boy, and Joseph Hills CJoe to most of usb, came to break the monotonj of the nSophie'esca- pades.n Daniel Eberhard, finding the ladder too steep, left us later in the year. Ruth Hinkson left to go to Piercaton High School, but Alice Johnston, wishing to see and know new places, left Etna and came to Larwill. Joe Kills, finding life getting dull again, get Na-hankerin'U to go to Wolf Lake which left our sophomore group at forty. At the beginning of our junior year, thirty-nine of us made the third decisive step up the ladder which was bring- ing us just one step'nearcr to success,--We hoped.' Kenneth Bair, 'little UCubbyU, came to us from Wolf Lake. Lenore Deeter, everybody's sweetheart, Dorothy Estlick, that girl with those beautiful curls, Winona Klingansn, the nearest we have to a red headg and Arthur Kile, our bashful little boy, came over the border from Etna to join the Larwill bunch Ldgar Jolly, Eugene Marrs, Anna Matson, Hazel Bair, and Elie nore King, desirous of hunting success by some other way, left our ranks, Margaret Jackson failed to return at the beginning of the year, but at the start of the second semes- ter we found that she couldn't resist the beckoning call of L.H.S.---for was it because of someone else??D You say that Larwill couldn't possibly hold an attraction for anyonellll Then why did Mary Marrs also decide, after one semester's absence at Killersburg, to cone back to dear L.H.S,??? Lith Margaret's' return at the beginning of the second semester, Keith Hull, the greatest sage of all times, came'here from Washington Center, but before the end of the year, we were sad to see that Noble County again beckoned our way. This time two of our most faithful, Larl Hollopeter to Wolf Lake, and Hubert Keirn to Albion, left us. Thus ended the year of 1957-58 with thirty-nine still remaining, hoping to proceed further!!!
