,- .f ., V Betty M. Lee jr. English 8 journalism DEDICATED TO - Mrs. Lee - She may not have the agility of a Mr. Fischer nor be as controversial as Mr. Schauner. She may not have the mind of a Mr, Gaede and her figure may not quite parallel that of Mr. Sneed. She may on occassion hide behind a wig and eat candy Qshe calls them cough dropsj by the dozen. But for her steadfastness and courage in outlasting the tumul- tous journalism class of 1971, we dedicate this, the greatest annual in LHS history, to Mrs. Betty M. Lee. Mrs. Lee takes time out of her busy schedule to play a game of hide and seek with the Journalism class. 3

J' ' 1 5 ---The Band f , A, , REMINISCIN it tai? 'fm' fi if When the class of '71 first walked through the Q doors of L. H. S. , not only did everyone see us, but N 'w-. they also felt the presence of an emerging quality of ' A leadership. 'K d Because of the way we yelled our class yell, every- X. ,V one could tell that we were just sophomores, but we 5 were proud ones at that. We chose Yust, Fleske, and George as our leaders with Grushnys as class cheer- leader. This was our first chance to show our talents in an all school musical, My Fair Lady. Yes, it was a good year to remember. Then all of a sudden, we were glorious juniors. More and more responsibilities became our own. Yust, Snyder, and Meyers were now our leaders and Fleske, our class cheerleader, helped us out-yell everyone else. We put on an outstanding Ir. Class play, You Can't Take It With You. The musical that year was H. M. S. Pinafore. We worked long hard hours to put on the prom of the century, Land of the Rising Sun. Would anyone like to buy fire extinguishers guaranteed for one full year? After what seemed like endless months, we became SENlORS at last. We elected Snyder, Yust, and Stone to lead us. George took position as class cheer- leader. Our last musical, Bye-Bye Birdie, was a smashing success. We painted the hill and stamped it permanently with our number 71. Those wonderful months of football, basketball, and wrestling were made complete with the crowning of our Football Homecoming Queen, Marsha Kay, our Winter Sports Homecoming Queen, Marsha jo, and the clinching of our 1st place title in the St. John Tournament. Lonnie and Cristi reigned as Chieftain King and Queen. Senior keys and announcements were chosen. As graduation neared, the realization that we had at last reached that final point of no return brought tears of sadness amid shouts of joy. Our high school years were truly unforgettable and in future years we shall look back and remember those glorious as well as sad moments we spent together, we THE CLASS OF 1971
