Prelude As you enter our Music Hall, you hear the echo of happy voices resounding from every corner. All of our activities-clubs, classes, plays, meetings. elections, sports, and in particular, our band blend in educational harmony. We have chosen Music as our theme and we shall try to show by pictorial review all that we have accomplished in our past years at Larksville High School. Our journey along the way has made us reali,.e the beautiful rhythmic combinations of our school days. As we go forward into a world unknown, it becomes a necessity to make use of our various teachings. Although we must say farewell to our dear corridors and familiar rooms, the melody of happy, carefree days shall cling tenderly in our memories forever. -vw w 1 W- .M . 4, W R Y, r .. After three weeks of grueling, persistent training, the Green Wave possessed an equipped and willing squad of 28 men. As the season progressed, several junior Varsity members were accredited for their outstanding abili- ties by a promotion to the Varsity-totaling 39 men at the end of the season. Sefllevlbur 12: LARKSVILLE 19. LUZERNE 6 Our first game played against the battling, stub- born Luzerne Lions, was one in which each inch gained was hard earned, Shurites scored all three touchdowns. The most outstanding one consisted of a 44-yard run. Frank Bushinski booted the extra point. One of the touch- downs was featured by a 25-yard pass, Akromas to Shurites. Seffrenzbev' 20: LARKSVILLE 19, G.A.R, 19 The G.A.R. team, led by Salvaterra, presented a game of chills and thrills for both LARKSVILLE and G.A.R. rooters. The excitement encountered in this game was more likely to be found in a college game. The Green Wave drew first blood by scoring with Bobby Bobeck bolling over from the one-yard line to take a short-lived lead. Then G.A.R. racked up a 19-6 lead until after the third quarter. The start of the fourth quarter saw Frank Bus- hinski scoring-then a stalemate. During the last 15 seconds Ray Shurites thrilled the Lark fans by running the ball over for a touchdown which tied up the score. Ken Kraynak did a spectacular job of punting in this game. S6'f7lKlIlbL'7' 26: LARKSVILLE 26. PLAINS 6 We met the Plains Red Raiders with great vehe- mence. The Green Wave had little trouble as they downed the Plains squad. Bobby Bobeck, with spec- tacular run, scored two touchdowns and bucked the line for a.n extra point. The other touchdowns were made by Shurites on a run and Larry Masgay on a pass play from Akromas. Frank Bushinski con- verted the extra point. October 52 LARKSVILLE 0, MEYERS 36 What a sorrowful lot the Green Wave was at the end of the contest between Larksville and Meyers' Mohawks. The score reveals to you our exhausted defeat. Bad breaks for the Larks and capitalization of these breaks made the Meyers team seem to be supreme. Oclober 91 LARKSVILLE 6, SXWOYERVILLE 6 The high flying Swoyerville Sailors, with a win- ning streak, were chosen to add our defeat to their glory. Despite their first scoring during the third quarter, the Green Wave battled back to score and tie the game. During the last period of the game-the running of Bobeck, Kraynales passing, and Corney's defen- sive work proved invaluable. Shurites raced the ball around end for the twenty-three yards necessary to tie the game and the Lark fans breathed a sigh of relief. October 17: LARKSVILLE 20, KINGSTON 0 We encountered and surprised the Kingston Huskies with a one-sided victory. The outstanding play of the night was the run- back of a kick-off by Akromas, placing the ball deep in Kingston's territory. Shurites scored on the next play. Then, too, all due praise and credit goes to Bobby Bobeck for his remarkable and thrilling footwork. He favored the Lark fans by insuring a well earned victorv as he boosted the score with two additional touchdowns. Points after touchdown were made by Bushinski and Masgay. The Larks' defensive forward wall consisting of Mickey, Corney, Masiewicz, La- moreaux, and Masgay, did a superior job in this game. OL'fIlf1L'l' 25: LARKSVILLE 19, NANTICOKE 0 The Nans from Nanticoke tried despairingly to score but to no avail. The first T.D. was made on a short pass to Shurites who skirted twenty yards to pay dirt. Then in as razzle-dazzle a style of football that can be seen today, the Larks scored on a play which involved four handlings of the ball by the backfield men. This maneuver started out with a pitch-out from Rosick to Shurites who ran far to his right as if he were going to circle the end-however, he stopped suddenly and passed the ball back to Rosick who was down-field. Rosick sped on to the goal, but about to be tackled on the two yard line, he lateralled to Bushinski who trekked over to score. The final touchdown came as a result of a punt return of sixty yards by Shurites which was greatly aided by the forceful and efficient blocking of all of his team-mates-especially joe Corney and Ken Kraynak. Frank Bushinski converted the extra point. Nurefllber l: LARKSVILLE 26, HANOVER 14 The Hanover Hawkeyes were defeated by a greater margin than the score shows. The Larks scored early when Rosick took a pass and ran twenty-four yards for a touchdown. Bus- hinski and Bobeck drove for the second tally with the latter plowing over. Against their own goal, Akromas intercepted a pass for the Larks and with well organized interference galloped to score on a ninety-five yard run, the longest run in the Xllfyoming Valley Conference this year. We ended the night's scoring with a 35 yard dash to pay-dirt when Shurites intercepted a l-lanover pass. Bushinski converted twice for the extra points. Nmfember 7: LARKSVILLE 0, PLYMOUTH 20 The Annual Coal Bucket Fray with Old Shawnee was picked to be great and was. A great defensive game was played by both the Larks and Plymouth in the first half with the Larks having the better of it, piling up four first downs to none for Plymouth In the second half, a score resulted when Plymouth took advantage of the break of the Larks losing the ball on a try for a first down on their own 30 yard line. Plymouth, playing heads-up ball, caught the Larks flatfooted with a pass to the weak side to Reese, who wiggled his way to the end zone with some fine blocks paving the way. Somehow each Larksville play was detected im- mediately by the Shawnee squad. Evidently we were well scouted as Plymouth turned out to be a surprise victor. N!JI'E7lIhF1'l71 LARKSVILLE 7. CUUGI-ll.lN 15 in The Coughlin Crusaders furnished bitter opposi- tion for our last game which was played in a steady drizzle. Larksville scored in the second quarter when Ray Shurites took a Crusader punt on his own twenty- five, With good interference, especially by joe Cor- ney who made a spectacular block of two Coughlin players, Shurites ran the distance to score. I-le then passed to Masgay for the extra point. Larksville's enjoyed first half lead was shattered early in the fourth quarter when Andy Firda skirted end for Coughlin to score, The conversion by Cough- lin was good and the score was tied at seven all. A few moments later Coughlin intercepted a Larks- ville pass in Lark territory and a second score was in the making for Coughlin who won the game by the final score of 15 to 7. Our hats off to Coaches Magalski, Orseck, Simonds and the whole Larksville Team. Witla a record of 5 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties, our team finished third in the Wyoxiaing Valley Conference.
