Larks displayed their power throughout the rest of the game, by pushing across two touchdowns, thus winning over a strong Newport aggregation. With the only score coming in the third quarter, the Larks staved off any threat by the Nans and came out on top, 6-O. The extra point was the margin of difference which did much toward the elimination of the Larks in win- ning the Wyoming Valley Championship. This provided the biggest upset of the year. With neither team scoring and only seven seconds remaining in the first half, a fumble was scooped up by an alert Hanover end, the kick for the extra point after the whistle had blown, set up the score which told the story of the game. Rebounding from our first defeat, we met our ever friendly rivals, the Shawnee Indians, and defeated them, 24-14, and for the first time since its inception brought home the famous ANTHRACITE COAL BUCKET. After rallying in the third quarter on successive downs and passes, our favorable 12-7 score was only shortlivedg the Coughlin Crusaders pushed over a fourth period touchdown to win, 14-12. With the Wyoming Valley Championship at stake, we met the heavily favored Swoyerville team before the largest crowd of the season at Huber Stadium. Much to the amazement and thrill of the spectators, the LARKS lost no time in scoring. Despite the fact that the Larks had more first downs and outplayed the Sailors on the ground, a blocked punt, late in the fourth quarter, re- sulted in another touchdown for our opponents, but not until our team had given them the toughest battle of the year and thrown a scare into many of the Swoyer- ville fans. Congratulations to the Swoyerville Sailors who worked so long in order to receive their well earned recognition as Wyoming Valley Champions. Larks Luzerne 6 Larks G. A.
