On two occasions students joined in holiday celebrations. Serving as guides and supervising activities, they hosted the fourth annual Halloween party sponsored by the Advisory Board. For the first time, children paid an admission fee, which helped limit attendance to 1000 grade school students, Mem- bers ofthe choral department displayed a different type of holi- day spirit at their Christmas Concen. The concert choir, soph- omore girls choir, and madrigals presented a variety of music. The concert culminated with the traditional singing ofthe Hal- lelujah Chorus by present and past choir members. l , , Mbmsni

1.3 lnflation, which rose to 18 percent in early 1980, affected school life in several ways. The first change some students noticed was an increase in lunch prices in the cafeteria. All students felt the effects of another move caused by inflation when the large windows were boarded up to decrease heating costs. The event, however, with the greatest potential to change students' lives was the defeat of the referendum. Twice during the year, voters rejected a proposed tax increase for the school fund.
