1 fl s Q sump! I CLEARWATER On a cold Thanksgiving night, the Largo Packers played a perfect game and defeated the Clearwater Tornadoes for only the third time in the history of their meeting, 27-13. Coach Stowers had his boys to a peak as they destroyed a pre-season state ranked squad. Terry Wheaton called the best game of his career, guiding the Pack on the ground and throw- ing perfect strikes to his receivers. Mike DeMarco led the onslaught on the ground with Steve Webb, 5 1 Bruce Fowler, and Wheaton helping out for a total of 278 yards. DeMarco scored twice on blazing runs G of 55 and 15 yards, with Wheaton also scoring from the four. Iim Minskey hauled in a picturesque aer- ial from the five to round out the Packer touch- 'gt downs. The Mean Machine defense completely x .4 1 ,A shut off the Tornadoes powerful offense, both on WW W' L A the ground and in the air. Sophomores Qwn Conference Crown IUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL A team full of experience and leadership defined the junior varsity. Under the direction of head coach Dave Griswold, the Baby Packers coasted to the con- ference championship with a perfect 8-0 record. A total of 28 points were scored against the Pack, as the defense recorded six shutout victories, including a 6-0 thriller over Clearwater. Kevin Brown, Ralph Thomas, and Iim Card led the immoveable future Mean Machine. Karl Szaflarski ran wild over every confer- ence foe to lead the Packers in touchdowns scored, with Paul Mesick and Butch Buis close behind.
