p2d'Z pldfy I have just returned from a fabulous reunuon wuth all my fruends from Largo Hugh School Graduatung Class of 1956 I was amazed to see what successful personages my former classmates had become and how much they had been able to contrubute to the world I really began to become excuted when the Largo Palladuum appeared before me, as that was wh re we were to meet JIII Anderson Harry Barber, Arlene Hudson and Russell Burnsude greeted me at the entrance and ushered me unto the magnufucent lobby whuch had been desugned and decorated by Janet Caussey world renowned desugner There I met John Futch Harvu Gruzzle and Harry Ankers They had just returned from a board meetung of the Unuted Natuons Agrucul tural and Ranchung Improvement Forum In Europ I approached the snack bar to refresh myself from my long trup I met Ronnue Gubbs Molly Jones Gene Mulls and Carole Ruchardson who were vaca tuonung from the harassung problems of teachung at the new spectacular Largo Unuversuty They Informed me that Coach Gubbs was doung a wonderful Job wuth the football team thus year and that another teacher Professor Ruchard Graham, had been added to the faculty I was also delughted to see Sondra Terman, Mary Bass, Donna Keener and Judy Osteen They told me that they were now Powell models They were plannung to guve a fashuon show for June Euser man's Punellas School of Modelung durung theur stay In Largo Donna and Mary were wearung chuc La As the program was about to begun, we fourd our seats and Iustened to Betty Holcomb, popular NBC recordung vocalust The applause had barely dued down before It rose agaun to greet Faye John son, stage actress and famous Furst Lady of the Theater Other renowned personages In the audu ence were asked to come forward by comeduan and guest master of ceremonues Dennus Velasco Cyn thua Rosende, authoress of best sellers saud a few words and told us about her newest book to b publushed soon lnternatuonal sport celebrutues also were presented and we recognuzed Barney McCall Pete Belanger Duckue Daugherty Ken DeVoI and Larry Faust who were members of the All Natuonal Baseball Team A dustunguushed delegatuon of the Romona Nuclear Atom Commussuon had just returned from an Important meetung and these scuentusts Martun Burd Paul Bush Davud McMullen, Larry Paquette Bob Permen ter, Duane Burket and Juanuta Keller gave us the latest Wulluams, after studyung In New York for several years was also employed there as cosmetucuan Damon also mentuoned that John Schmudt was a reporter for the Sentunel Suddenly I heard my name called and turned to see Terry Spunk advancung toward me After greet Ing hum I asked hum what he was doung and he told me that he was a televusuon technucuan at the WLARGO TV statuon He found the work very unter estung and had met many promunent people through hus work, such as Sarah Neal, French horn player In the Unuted Countrues Orchestra, and artust Tom Noton Mr Noton had paunted the New York Revue at the artusts' show last wunter Terry also knew Davud Dawley trumpet playeu In Harry James' band and Largo's answer to Gene Kruppas drums, Davud Evans I wondered what had happened to Lous Bos worth Vurgunua Hull and Judy Porter Terry told me that they were now nurses at the Largo Health Center and Wanda Ruley was a lab technucuan at the Largo Munucupal Hosputal A complete new de partment for psychuatry treatment headed by Ann Marruott had been added to the hosputal In the last year On the way back to our seats J T Lyons and Irvun Meares jouned us and I could tell by theur unu forms that they were polucemen servung the Largo Cuty Poluce To begun the second part of the program Master of Ceremonues Dennus Introduced Hugh Ann Cason who sang for us some of the songs that she had used In her USO shows whule entertaunung troop, overseas Two other famed personalutues un our mudst were Mr Unuverse, Burten Allen and U S Olympuc fugure skatung star, Lavern Wulkerson Several of our old classmates were unable to come back to Largo for our reunuon as they were too far away These were Lloyd Larumore, who owned a thruvung wheat farm In Kansas Corene Guuluanu and Marue Howell who were servung as hotel hostesses In swank Hawauuan resorts and of course Unuted States Presudent Kenneth Kepler was unable t attend because of hus pressung dutues Kay Evans was tued up In her new Broadway show and could not leave rehearsals After the close of the program a number of us agreed to walk around the cuty and see the changes that had been made sunce we attended Largo Hugh School un 1956 One of the buggest addutuons was the Arthur Pausells Shoe Factory, Inc and of course Taylor s Cutrus Packung Plant under the management of Charles Kramer was stull operatung Yvonne Abramson Betty Baxter and
