Like our school year the lone pine was small when it began and became strong as it grew. The lone pine has struggled through rough weather and years of loneliness; our school year was wearied with boredom, tragedies, and mistakes. Our lone pine reaches toward the heavens. This year some reached for the sky; some made it and some didn’t but we all tried. The lone pine stands on a lonely hill as the mute testimony of its struggle; but our school year is contained forever be- tween the pages of our 1953 Annual. Hi! I’m Jerry and he’s Joe. We’re dressed like pine trees to fit the theme; So come on let’s go. Let’s see the memories with which these pages teem ..

You have portrayed the activities, personalities, and achievements of some nine hundred students of varied attitudes, interests and ambitions in an interesting and accurate fashion. This record depicts the development of healthy competition and harmonious cooperation, of successes and failures, of victories and defeats and accomplishments and errors. The good, however, far over shadows the bad and that is the way you will find it in the future whether it is in your hones, communities, nation or the world as a whole pleasant and may they erve you in the future.
