Our Favorite Friend throughout the year, the referee. 1 fl HUtKi ' • 4 i 1 Carmel David tries for a block with Danny lending a helping hand. Sectional 108 Bulldogs try to marr Blackhawk’s scoring percentage. The four legged monster On Wednesday, February 22, 1967, the Carmel gymnasium rocked to the wild yells of enthusiastic basketball fans as the State Tourney got underway. The first thrilling game of the Carmel Sectional featured Noblesville ' s Millers and the Westfield Shamrocks in a fight to the finish. Shamrock fans got the victory. The second game featured our never-say-die Bulldogs versus the Sheridan ' Hawks. An exciting tied halftime led on to a fighting finish as the Bull¬ dogs tumbled 64-74. The Blackhawks went on to be the eventual runners-up to champion Carmel. But the real victors were the Fighting Bulldogs - the team that never gave up. Our Bulldogs watch hopefully as another basket is enroute for the Blackhawks. Layton and Rich look dumb-founded as Watson jumps for the ball. 109 7 ' R e s e r v e s 66-67 Pert and lively, the Reserve Cheerleaders, Susan Barnhizer, Jaqkie Snyder, Karen Castor, and Teresa May, lend greatly to the excitement and fun of each ball game. But you know that success, in this age of science, takes more than guesswork. It takes careful observations. Accurate comparisons. Logical analysis. Sound deduction. These are traits we value at our new Engineering and Research center in Anderson — and we have the tools to implement them. For instance, if a real closeup of something is desirable, we pop it under our electronic microscope and magnify it up to 200,000 diameters. If we want to analyze materials for their metallic elements, we use a spectrograph, accurate to a few parts in a million. These help us in designing new ignition systems for cars. Or control devices for missiles. Or a new kind of generator. Look us up, after college, if you think you’ll be at home in our field. Right back home in Indiana. 8 (Oh, yes, if you used your scientific insight and folded the page to compare the circles, you discovered the answer.)
