Our first step to becoming a Senior. What happy days they were-our favorite time-Recess. Say girls, remember the teeter-totters-it was fun until they decided to put up new ones-the stiff ole things. We even tried our luck as baseball with the guys-and of course they always won. But the best time yet was when we discovered the hill behind the school. We played cowboy and Indians and lt was fun until we beat each other up and the teacher made us play only on the playground. We even tried to organize a club. We held our meeting on the fire escape. We gave up after a few meetings-we all wanted to be the president. It was fun trying though. We were always proud of our boys-sure they were mean-but that's another step to becoming a senior. Billy Cobb even had the nerve to put a tack on a teacher's chair. Who got the blame, you guessed it-we girls did. Now let me tell on Bev and Larry Galliher. All I need to say is, how does it feel to stand with your nose in a ring when it is 2 inches higher than your nose. Not much fun, huh? Poor Marilyn Lawson, she had more trouble with her books. The mice must have liked the flavor of them. We still say she kept candy in her desk. We have always had good ball players, and Nora and Patty were our 8th grade cheerleaders. They were real cute and of course good. For some reason Marvin is always trying to sell us on eating out. l wonder why? We even had a salesman among us. Gilbert could sell ice cubes to Eskimos. Patsy's going to make some one a good secretary. When you guys get to be big executives, just hunt her up. We've sure had fun with noisy Doug. He keeps us well entertained. Bob Simmerman was inter- ested in the junior class this year. He bought a ring and .... Right Bob? Take Larry Sisson, Donnie, and Leland - Three musketeers-always together and full of jokes. They decided they'd by 'educated bums. Think they'll make it? lt seems two of our red heads like each other's company. Where ever you see Gordon, you see Raymond. Becky Upton has a way with her mother. She always helps at our suppers- thanks to both of them. Stanley is quite the ball player. One thing, though, what do you have against typing, Stan? Cut your finger one day-sprained wrist, the next. Lary Max is certainly good natured-he doesn't ever mind when we call him 'Sylvester' . It's been fun having him as a classmate. Terry Benefiel came in our freshman year. He is little and lots of fun. Remember Freshman Biology? Our freshman year Joyce Burns was elected freshman attendant. She was selected by the boys. lack Busby has more or less been voted the best looking guy in the class. He surely is handsome-agree girls? Let's take a big guy like Don Cook. He is fun. Studies, too! ! Larry Cunningham and Sandra Wiseman had a time last year trying to convince everyone they were not going together. What was the trouble, too many Sandra's? Sandra had us scared for a while. We thought we were going to lose her to Markleville. Little but mighty Sharon Guthrie joined us our sophomore year. It's been nice having her with us. Say, let's watch and see what happens to Roberta and Mike. Looks like they'll spend a lot of time together. We even have a couple of singers in our class. Blackie used to sing for us in 'Geography class and during our senior year we discovered Bob DeNoon was another Pat Boone. Yes, we've got to have a hot rod-two of them. Say Suzanne what happened to your Olds or should I ask Jim or Dave. Want to have some fun? Just go to one of Nancy's Slumber Parties. They were really something. Now take Ted for instance. Sometimes he gets so over joyed he can't speak-especially in Mrs. Noggle's Speech class. We had some great parties at Ted's. We even have a girl athlete in our class, Anita. She can play about as well as the boys. We're proud of her. Dick Howell's really our guy --ball player, president, and quite the trumpet player. Warning! ! Play it safe, watch out for flying glasses at a ballgame. I wouder whose they are. Could it be Delpha's? Does anyone care for a coke? Just look up Malcolm. Most people faces get red whe they're embarrassed, but what happens to vou, Marilyn Haskell?-Sherman, how about a sandwich at the Tee Pee? We could probably tind a ride home. lt seems everytime we cook in Home Ec. part of our food goes out the door and into the hands of Bob Huffman. What about this Marj? We even have a few quiet ones in our class, Dennis and Melvin. They always say still water runs deep. For all we know they might be Presidents some day. Jane has a rough time with that Dodge of hers. What seems to be the trouble? We never hear much out of John, but we know he is one of us. Wonder why Iudy Michael is so interested in Fort Campbell, Ky. Could it be there is a guy involved? Talk about being surprised. You should've been at the party we gave for Marion Koch at play practice. She certainly was surprised. Another two classmates of ours are Phillip Michael and Charles Mills. One quiet and the other one shy. Take your choice. I hear Charlotte has trouble with Olds, too. Did you get hurt in that wreck? Which is more important, a Utah guy or school? Becky Turner says a Utah guy, but I don't think the faculty agree. I wonder what power Mr. St. John has that causes the Seniors to be quiet in their class meetings. Here we are, at last, a cluster of scared 'spanked' young adolencences, wondering what will come next. School years are your happiest years. We certainly hate to leave. I s K X 1 QQ6e A MESSAGE TO YOUNG PEOPLE and Parents FROM A GREAT AMERICAN ' '.... today's exciting era of rapid discovery and almost unbelievable technological prog- ress offers young people with inquisitive minds-and a good education-scores of richly rewarding opportunities that were not even dreamt of in my youth. K'One Thomas Edison in 2 generation is no longer enough to sustain our Kind of progress -today we literally need thousands of well- trained young people with the kind of vision, imagination and courage that took Edison on his lifelong conquest of the unknown. This is why I am constantly urging boys and girls to go on to as full an education as possible-not only in science and engineer- ing, but in the arts, the social sciences, the humanities or any other field that fits their talents .... -By Charles F Kettering Dean of American Inventors, now past 80, Boss Kett is still active as a General Motors Research Consultant Delc o - Re my VISION OF GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION - ANDERSON INDIANA DELCO BATYKRV PLANTS- MUNCIE.
