When we first came together in- the fall of '46, we were pretty green and inexperienced freshmen, but we finally struggled through and came back the next year with the feeling that we were really in , As freshmen we were not too active as is to be expected. However, we started with fifty-two members, the largest class in the high school. When we came back as sophomores we lost no time. We started off with magazine sales, which we really pushed. We chose as our class colors black and white. When we returned as iuniors, we knew by then that we were the best class in the school. Our class play, Believe It or Not , was a great success, ticket sales exceeding even those of the mighty seniors. Our Prom was also a great success being held at Grandview Country Club with the sen- ior class and faculty as guests. As seniors, we have only continued what we began as iuniors. We had fun practicing, as well as giving, our class play Miss Jimmy . As privileged seniors, we greatly enioy- ed a trip by bus to Bloomington, where we attended the Pittsburgh-Indiana football game. We ended our senior ac- tivities by taking a trip to Chicago where we spent some very eventful days. As we look back, it seems each year has passed more quickly than the previous one, until as we recall them they seem but a day. Our class fellowship and teamwork has carried us suc- cessfully thus far and when we leave L. H. S. for the by ways of the world, the memories of our experiences here will give us strength and a greater courage for the life we are now entering. 14 .lumens fe Es- D ra , essnr , ,:,A y S as . We've had plenty of work but lots of fun, too, And we express our appreciation to each of you: To those who taught us to read and write, To correct the wrong and do only the rightg To those who were so patient and kind, Who helped us get answers that we could not findg To every sponsor and teacher and classmate, We want to say, Thanks, you have all been great. Many things her eyes behold. 0 X As she watches, John Doe, a nice little man, goes about A his daily life. John is remembering how he graduated way Qi back in 1950 as he is taking an evevning walk. He passed a lovely beauty salon owned by Barbara -. Now what is her last name? It used to be Anderson. Farther down was Carolyn Jo's Bakery. Her name had once been Milburn, but that was such a lang, long time ago. 'Z Then, there was the office of T. Richard Coca Cola Com- pany. Marilyn Funk - and Betty Jo - were iust leavifng af- .'- tt - .f ter a long day as stenographers. He bought a paper from little Jerry Smith Jr., and read how Mr. Smith had iust become At- torney General of the United States. There were several interesting articles with headings such as: Robert Brantlinger is promoted to Admiral in the U. S. Navy, The Honeyhummers, Patty Teeters, Anne Kerr and Jackie Whetsel, star in Hollywood's latest hit, and socialite Carole Perdue - vacations at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. He walked on past the Hersberger Telephone Company where the old Bell Company had once been. There's a sign which reads, Brattain's Buicks. They really fly. Next door was the State Agricultural Bureau with Bill l'l6fi1Cll'iCkS, Dole Flllkf and l-BROY De' Lawter as Bureau Executives. The block-long engineering offices of Joe Turner were beside the church where Kenneth Beach was pastor. On and on he walks, past Renbarger's Gym, pasta nice residential section where such elite as Betty Dunham - and Irma Smethers - live, then, past Holloway Hospital. He found himself at Thompson's Airport, and decided to take a helicopter home. On the way home he thought of all those others who had graduated in 1950. Yes, Joan Whet- sel had started a new VVomen's Cavalry: Georganna Horine is a dress designer in Paris, Lena Helterbrand is married and has the cutest twins, Sarah Sparks is a Powers Model, Betty Baker is a missionary in Africa: Marilyn Erfurth is head nurse at New York's biggest hospital, Marilynn Figg is singing with a well-knowtn band, Joan Martin is assistant to Ralph Renbarger, the famous athlete and artist, and Marilyn Reddick is happy with the millionaire she married. So runs the world away. As the helicopter lands, he decides he is hungry. He goes across the street to Mrs. Thomas' Salmon Cake Restaurant and has a snack. As he converses with her, he learns that Mr. Roudcbush is coaching Earth's basketball team. They will have a game with The Moon next wee k. He goes home happily. We've all done well, and the years following our graduation have been good ones, he thinks. 46 T ILSTICS H 4, T555 r ff ,N ff is 4 Nw, w' A 'nuff V ,. Q. ., I X' hi! N.
