Emily Early is sincere in her effort to shield her children from hardship and error, but in doing so has deprived them of opportunities to think and act for themselves. Richard and Emily are persuaded to go on a cruise, leaving the maid in charge of the household, and Hope, the financial matters. Here they have many troubles and are faced with a lawsuit when Bob has a wreckg but Sanford Wells, a young attorney, comes to the rescue. Bee is painting a modern picture. See is just expressing herself. with a hammer. Grandma Dimity is clipping more coupons and entering radio contests. Kenneth Woodward- Kenny played at t.he forward position. He was a hard driver and it seemed he was never down. Kenny scored a to- tal of 196 points. Many will never forget those left-hand pivots. Being only a Jun- ior much is expected of him next year. He stood second in scoring by hav- ing a total of 171 points. Nice going, Smitty. Hank Gladback- Hank played a guard position and was a stand-out per- former all year. He broke up many plays that were started for points. Hank scored 150 points and seemed to score when least expected. Being only a Junior he will have a chance to prove his worth next year. Some boy- this Gladback. hate to see him go. Clark Barker- Clark kept one of the guard positions down and proved he could handle it very well. Many fans will re member those long ones Clark. He scored 170 points, mostly far out. We Charles Baker- Charlie was the sixth man of the team and ably filled in most any position when called upon. He was a very hard worker who never gave up. His total points scored were 69. The Bulldogs finished the season by scoring 19 straight victories of scheduled play, losing only the first to Fortville by 1 point, but the Bulldogs gained revenge later in the season by defeating them 53 to 14. Among the most outstanding victories of the Lapel Bulldogs, this season, were Wiley of Terre Haute, Greenfield, Shortridge, Seymour and Lebanon. These teams were acknowledged as a number of the state's top ranking teams. The Lapel Bulldogs went to the Sectional Tournament, at Anderson, this season as the favorites, but were defeated in the finals by the Anderson Indians after leading through three quarters of the game. Earlier in the tournament they defeated Frankton and Summitville. We will expect much out of next year's squad although they lose three Seniors, Frank Anderson, Clark Barker and Marvin Dell. Our team has set a record, in season play this year, which we hope the teams in the future will follow. BASEBALL Next yearls baseball squad will suffer the loss of the two Senior squad members, Sam Robb, catcher and Frank Ander- son, pitcher. Robb led in hitting by batting .475. The feature of the season was a no-hit game, over Pendleton, pitched by Frank Anderson, without the help of the other squad mem- bers this would not have been possible. Next year the team anticipates a very successful season. We wish the team good luck. Jay Burke, a member of the squad for three years, was unable to show his basketball ability in his Senior year, because of knee injuries. Jay will be remembered in the eyes of the public due to the ability he showed with the team of '4O. X7 Ss Zi I P-PQ r77 ,l,', 'nli ' A. ' :U , -s'J'A-ff. 9? ' A ' 3.4 .r ' Xl LX' :QQ '4f?' He maketh me prepare hard lessons and giveth me low grades. He kicketh me out of class and leadeth me in the paths of flunking for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I can do no better for thou won't help me. Thou makest me go before my classmates and show my ignorance. My patience runneth out. Surely dumbness and stupidness shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in Lapel High School forever., MOTTOES If you put forth the effort you can truthfully say I tried. Some use school as a study time. Others use it as a past time. You don't have to be a basketball player to take a friendly tip. A TRIBUTE TO OUR TEACHERS Some like to scorn our teachers, and scold them for their wrongs, but for our success in life deep in their hearts they long. No one is perfect as all smart people know, but give some credit to the faculty, for the effort that they show. They'll do their best to teach us all the things that we should learn, and if we take advantage of them, their heart will sadly yearn. K And as the years come and go, when we'll be presidents and preach- ers, there'll be a memory which lingers on. There're no friends like our teachers.
