Wayne larreti Larry Elliott, young broker, thinking he is becoming guardian of a small boy, is jolted to find that he has taken a girl, Char- lotte or Charlie, as she is called, to raise. Charlie is seventeen and pretty. Larry is engaged to the irnperious Vivian Srnythe- Kersey and Charlie becomes a problem. She soon shows an affection for Larry which displeases Vivian and her snobbish aunt. How Charlie and her hill-billy uncle Aleck go away, to return as polished and cultured as Vivian herself, makes an interesting and exciting story which is portrayed by an ex- cellent cast. THE VARSITY This season the Bulldogs and their coach, Herman Hinshaw have enjoyed the most successful year of any year in the hist- ory of Lapel High School. Although they won fifteen of their twenty scheduled games, they entered the sectional tourney as the dark horse . They came through the sectional by de- feating Sumrnitville, Anderson, and Alexandria. This being the first time the Indians had been defeated by the Bulldogs in fifteen years. By smashing through the regional and serm- finals the Bulldogs became one of Hoosierlands big four to play in the finals at the Butler Field House. The season ended for them in the first round by being defeated two points by the state champions, Hamrnond Tech. Our team has set a record this year for their followers to ad- mire and a standard for the future Lapel teams. So - heres hats off to a great tearn who won the hearts of the state by their determination and fair play. Gene Mills, 79 points, cr- junior didn't see much action in the tournaments be cause of a sprained ankle. He always has plenty of drive and is one of our best defensive players. Keith Bamhizer, 244 points a senior also, worked ex- ceptionally well at the pivot post and a, good of- fensive ball all season. lunior llUYl Burke, 8 points Being only a Sophomore is the second tallest man on the team, good at the pivot post and he did ex- ceptionally well in the Sectional against Ander- son and Alexandria. Iay is also a good singer! ' ' H Delbert Hersberg- er, 29 points A Senior who ably fills his place when ever he is substituted in the QUII19. Robert Lewis, 2 points. The only Freshman certified to play in the tour- nament. A player who shows plenty of fight every min- ute he is in the game. Y ,CE -X... De Trevor, Whetsel, 272 points, a senior is the leading scorer, a good defensiae player and one oi the best round about men of the state. Wayne larrett, 84 points. A iunior. is the sixth man on the team, coming from a long string of ball play- ers, is a good defensive player. In the Anderson game he scored the Winning goal. Elmer Anderson, 2l8 points, a veteran of 4 years experience, al- ways good for points especially during the tourney games. Halfred Males,l49 points, Q junior, man on the squad 45'-7 J a speedy dnibbler and he is noted for his long shots. Ward Shetterly, A junior is always on hand when he is needed most. This is just his lst year and much is expected from him next season. l1JEfmG'r t gafz5,r rf . Tffw' J Lleij aff r wwf 'H ff? ewfifl QW' , A W ,KM V +0 I 4 A ' .vw 4 f,zQ,' JW My M?
