Being only able to carry 45 pounds of luggage by plane (almost impossible for a girl on a trip) she left Bockermen for the United States and eventually Lapeer, Not only did she leave her home country, but her parents Dr. and Mrs. Rolf Muehlhaus and a sister Renate who is a librarian. Soon Birgit will be boarding a boat and sailing back to her country and reuniting herself with her loved ones. We here at LSH have enjoyed her stay—and to Birgit we say Auf Wiedershen. To head our class we elected Mike Darby, president; Dan Cote, vice president; Julie Ryan, secretary; and Carol Kalor, treasurer. In the annual freshman-sophomore field day held in October, we were defeated by the sophomore class and therefore gave them a lovely prom in the spring. SopHomore Ijear 1960 - 1961 In 1960, as confident sophomores, we chose Steve Rehn, president; John Berry, vice president; Beverly Bryant, secretary; and Nancy Fick, treasurer. In May the annual Student Council elections were held. Our candidates were Clennis Lilly, president; A1 Lynch, vice-president; Nancy Fick, treasurer; and Loraine Bolton, secretary. Even though we were defeated, we gave a close run to the junior candidates. We closed our sophomore year with the preparation of the floral rope for Sw ingout. [Junior Ijear 1961 - 1962 We began our junior year in a brand new environment, for thesenior high building opened in September, 1961. We elected Mike Darby, president; Dave Osmer, vice president; Bev Bryant, secretary; and Nancy Fick, treasurer. In March we presented our Junior Play Arsenic and Old Lace . The play, with Keith Rollins and Pat Thornton in the lead, was a huge success. Then in May, Student Council Elections rolled around again. Beverly Bryant and Nancy Fick were elected as secretary and treasurer. As our Junior and Senior Prom we picked the theme Oiental Gardens The class worked hard on it and we were rewarded with a great prom. We were the first class to decorate the new school. Senior Ije ar 1962 - 1963 In 1962, as seniors we chose Jim Greenlee, president; Rick Brandtc, Vice President; Judy Whitehead, secretary; and Gerry Gassel, Treasurer. Enthusiasm ran high as we gave our senior play, Ask Any Girl. Loraine Bolton and Virgil Huffman led the cast with a fine performance. After the first semester exams we suddenly realized our high school days were almost over; events came faster and faster. All Sports Banquet, Senior trip, Swing Out, Honors Assembly, exams, Baccalaureate, and finally Commencement. We, the class of 1963, have thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at Lapeer High School and will never be able to say enough for the help and unselfish time given to us by the administration, the faculty, our class sponsors and parents and our fellow students whom we leave behind. Students participating in this program enjoy a rich experience of accomplishment and satisfaction, in seeing the finished product made from their efforts. On these pages, we have taken the Pantherscope camera into the shops and drawing rooms to expose some of the students working on their projects. At the right, notice the faces of concentration. Art Stimulates ‘6 fie Creative Mind ARTS AND CRAFTS, by themselves have a special way of intriguing the creative mind. It is impossible that all can be fine artists or craftsmen, however we can all be appreciative observers. Physical 3itness WITH NATIONAL attitude promoting physical fitness throughout the United States, here at Lapeer Senior High we take an active part. Strong minds and strong bodies promote good moral character for our countries youth. Here, our camera, has captured some of the aspects of our physical education program. Activity Period 11:10 Activity period begins. The classroom doors swing open and into the swarm of midday traffic flows the student activity period. In these few minutes that are alotted the students, many of the best laid plans for the enjoyment and amusement are programed for portions of the student body. Not all students are involved in extra school activities and do not become active on these Tuesday mornings. It is the desire of some educators that all should participate in school activities. Dedicated Students Mast ex O fl emselves A GREAT DEAL of our student life is surrounded with books, themes, term papers, math problems, and class preparations. Here, briefly on these two pages we give the reader and observer a chance to view some of your classmates preparing for the tasks that have been set before them. As£ Any Qkl Mr. Albrecht, faculty director. Here are some of the girls that lived at the hotel, waiting for that certain phone call. Ask Any Girl, was presented by the Senior Class this year for our enjoyment. The play centered around Meg (Lorain Bolton) who was surrounded by statistics. Her plot for a man was accomplished by material derived from Motivation Research. Frustration ran high at the Hotel, for a man any man. The play leads were Lorain Bolton as Meg Wheeler, and Virgil Hoffman as Miles Doughton. Pat Thornton, just passing time. Pat Bergen, working on sound effects.
