Left Butch Me Killen gets 6 points at the expense of Flint Tech. According to Coach Fitzpatrick The best balanced team I've ever had resulted in a perfect season for the Lapeer Panthers. The Panthers rolled up an amazing total of 312 points on offense and allowed their opponents only 30. They gained 2,268 yards rushing while the opponents gained 881. Five players made the All-County team and three were among the top four scorers in Lapeer County. Butch Me Killen, Bob Stevens, Dick Kolloff, Bob Retherford, Dick Coulter made All-County. Bob Stevens was top scorer with 86 points, Butch Me Killen was second with 81 points and Dick Kolloff was fourth with 56 points. To start the season off Caro came over to Lapeer and even though the Panthers were a little ragged they beat them 27-6. The next week end they beat the Waterford eleven 34-0. Owo6so was next, when the final whistle blew the score was 26-6. After Avondale came to Lapeer there was no stopping the Panthers. They defeated them 21-0 and the next three games with Romeo, Rochester, and Flint Tech., they didn't allow a point to be scored against them while they made 38, 14, and 49 respectively. Flint St. Mikes was next on the list. They became the team to score the most points against Lapeer, 12. Before the Panthers stopped rolling that night, they had scored 49 points. And last but not least the Panthers capped the season with a 61-0 win over L'Anse C re use to win the title of the best team in Lapeer's history. i . .. . V This is what Bob Stevens showed the opposing football players, his heels. Here Bob breaks away far 6 points in the game with Flint St. Mikes. Dick Kolloff makes one of his bone-crushing tackles on one of the players from Flint Tech, who has just caught a pass. This was one of the few times they threatened to score, but Dick was there to stop them. You've found the key!! As juniors we presented the Ninth Guest , a melodrama of murder and revenge, by the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Owen Davis. A mysterious Ninth Guest informs the eight people he has trapped in an isolated penthouse that they will all die by morning. He eliminates his guests one after another, keeping the audience guessing till the final curtain. The psychological overtones of the play prevent it from being merely an ordinary 'whodunit.' One by one the characters were ticked off, victims not really of the 'death trap', but of their own weakness. Understudies were used for the first time in Lapeer and a fabulous publicity campaign was staged.
