Life Of A Child A child is o person living on dreams, Always wonring and wishing, or so ir seems. A child is o person filled wirh sunshine and loughrer, Never really coring which dreom he is ofrer. Some srudenrs found rhese ro be stimulating and exciting, while others found them monotonous and rime consuming. In whichever manner you found them, they were always o new experience. Many of our responsibilities starred os simple household chores, bur srudenrs found os they entered high school many more were added ro this list. Besides studying ro get good grades, many srudenrs found that weekly allowance wosn'r quire enough and so they rook parr-rime jobs. This meant a well organized budgeting of rime, wirh room ro spore for o social life. As one progressed further in high school, many were soon able ro drive. This odded ro rhe lisr of responsibilities one hod ro cope wirh. Soon srudenrs found themselves looking inro career opportunities and colleges. The lisr of responsibilities hod grown endless. Srudenrs found os rhey progressed through life rhor many of rhese high school responsibilities were nor os bod os once thought ro be; and many would someday wish for rhese instead of rhe responsibilities rhey were now facing. All in oil, rhese responsibilities helped most of rhe srudenrs ro mature ond berrer enabled rhem ro cope wirh rhe responsibilities yer ro come. Opening 5 mm 6 opening rocM SCtiCCt Looking around ony classroom, ir wos easy ro see people breaking owoy in rheir own man- ner As reachers lecrured rhroughour rhe hour, ir wos apparenr nor everyone heard whar wos being said A few people were reading, while orhers sar morionless, storing inro space Classrooms were nor rhe only place srudenrs could be found escaping from school The cafe- teria wos also a spor of rerrear, whether in rhe morning or or orher rimes rhroughour rhe day. Most mornings, rhe cafeteria supplied o place ro meet friends, rolk, or ger losr minure homework completed Ar noon ir wos ogoin used as o place of rerrear. Alrhough nor everyone ore lunch, rhe few minures given for this purpose were appre- ciated. Two-rhirry brought about the end of school, bur by no means wos it the end of the day When school ended there were many ways to spend the remainder of the day The majority of people would go home. For some students it was on to work, practice, a friend's house, or other numerous after school activities. Unfortu- nately, there were always students who had to stay home and study for the following doy's rest. The weekends were quire different. On Fri- day the school buzzed with excitement. The weekend hod finally arrived! Plans for Friday and Saturday included parries, cruising town, movies, dances, football or basketball games and a world of other things. Something always seemed to be brewing after rwo-rhirry. 8 Opening r � For Dove Srohler, in rhe movie Breaking Awoy , srudenr life con- sisted of lirrle more rhen swimming in rhe locol quarry; bicyde rodng, and of course, anything Italian. Some people, like Dove, tools o subject of great interest to them and rook it beyond their normal education. They learned o great deal about working with others for a common goal in rhe process. Joining an extracurricular group is perhaps rhe best way for a srudenr to moke friends, hove fun, and learn, all or rhe same rime. Most srudenrs who have porridpared in after school dcrivines will agree that ir is perhaps rhe very best parr of high school. The life of a srudenr does nor hove to be boring Nor does rhe learning Whatever a srudenr's inreresrs, there is probably a club or group at Lapeer East for ir. K) Srudenr Life ! Lorer, when they become the Symphony Bond, they ployed some of the best music around. Per- haps you were one of those srudenrs saved from the horrors of sixth hour whenever they held on in-school concert. An often over-looked bond was Concert Bond. Highly disciplined and professional.
