THEY KEPT OUR FIRES BURNING At any game they could have been spotted, waving pompoms, cheering like crazy and leading the crowds with chants. In fact, the Pep Club had en- ough spirit to catch the whole school afire. They worked hard making pos- ters, selling hats and buttons, so that everyone would see the Eagle spirit. Events the club sponsored included pep bus rides, a float for homecoming and a dance. Officers leading the Pep Club spirit were President Bev Sweet and Secretary-Treasurer Brad Spencer. Although it took work to keep the flame burning, they never com- plained. 17

HAMS AT HEART k Everyone got into the act, as stu- dents and faculty fired up for the Homecoming game. The true image of the students was brought out when everyone came to school in rags and tatters. Tuesday, the halls were filled with movie extras, as stu- dents walked around in disguise with their hats and shades. Childhood memories of lollipops and blankets came on Wednesday and students brought their favorite toys and stuffed animals to comfort them Thursday. Everyone wore green and gold to end Spirit week in true Eagle fashion. 16

WEEK RIGHT OUT OF THIS WORLD If you were from another planet and decided to visit Lapeer East High, the week of February 13-17, a report back to the mother planet might have went like this: They tag each other on Monday, these people are possessive. Hearts seem to be big on Tuesdays as they celebrated Valentines day, a time for sharing and caring. Nice touch. They do dress odd on Wednesday, something their parents did back in a time known as the 50's. Thursday and Friday are times for couples. They traded clothes and things, then dressed alike. On Saturday it was time to boggie down to Twilight Express. Pretty wild, this place called La- peer East High. They sure don't need our culture, mix the two and boy what a world! 18
