HOMECOMING 1976 On October 29 and 30, 1976, a new tradition was begun at Lapeer East. The Eagles held their first Homecoming. On the 29th there was an assembly, a parade and a football game. (The Seniors won the float contest.) On October 30th, there was a Powder Puff football game between the Junior and Senior girls. (The Seniors won again.) There was also a Homecoming Dance that evening. Teresa Bulzan was chosen as our first Homecoming Queen. She was escorted by Brian Mikulski. The members of her court were: Kathy Parsch, escorted by Tim Thwing; Pam Semmens, escorted by Scott Owens; Melissa West, escorted by Jeff Bishop; Becky Herrick, escorted by Dave Peasley; and Val Handel, escorted by Dean Walker. The underclassmen were represented by Junior Natalie Smith, Sophomore Krystal Mellish and Freshman Gay Putnam.

SKI CLUB The Ski Side Gang The Lapeer East Ski Club was just organized this year. The Club is usually found skiing (stumbling, tripping and anything else you can do on skis) at Alpine Valley. The Club is open to amateur ski- ers as well as experts. The fearless club’s leaders are Miss Routhier and Mr. Ger- lach. 23 The hangout of the Ski Side Gang

’TWAS THE DAY BEFORE VACATION Peek-a-boo Santa says, “Eat your heart out “Thwing!” Santa’s little elves. On December 17, 1976, a new tradition was begun. All the classes showed Christmas spirit by decorating classrooms. Mr. Thwing won first prize; Miss Routhier won Rookie of the Year; Mrs. Grunawalt won Honorable Mention; Mr. Kaiser and Mr. Kinzer, unfortunately, were disqualified. All the stockings were hung on the bulletin board with care. 25
