BARBARA SMITH Editor-zfn-Fhief EDITORIAL The greatest factor, outside of the home and the church, that has the in- fluence on the individual student is the school. Looking back, more than likely, you can remember every teacher under whom you have ever studied. Teachers irnbue their pupils with a sense of good citizenship and fair play. The President of the United States may lead the citizens of this country but the teachers of the United States mold those citizens. This task of making citizens is a most important one and it is entrusted to the school. If the teachers keep this trust, hold it high, protect it faithfully, then surely our democratic principles will remain supreme and no doctrine of fascism or communism will ever be able to cause their downfall. On behalf of the class of nineteen hundred and forty-nine, I would like to propose a vote of heart-felt thanks to our teachers, the faculty of the Lansing- burgh schools. In the years ahead may we, their students, prove that We have heard their teachings and be good and true citizens, ardently upholding right and fervently opposing wrong.
