The heart of the Dramatics pro ram at L. H. S. centers around Troop No. 880 of the National Thespian Society. Through siis organization students become skilled in all phases of play production. A member of the Thespian Society is expected to have a working knowledge of play production, casting, sta e craft and play selection. The motto of the Society is: Act well your part, there all honor Fics. The club officers include: Rosalea Edmonds, President, Gloria Russell, Vice-President, Mary Stiglmire, Secretary: Ray Sherley, Recorder. Major productions at L. H. S. this year included two full length plays, 'Sound Your Horn' and Second Fiddle . In addition the Lansing one-act play Nobody Sleeps' received second in the Tri-County, and District play festivals. The drama is the most stimulating form of literature because one learns by doing and one lives by being, and acting is very definite living. S 5 1 Nifty' ff. it 2 ,. ,. ,- . .s 5 -s, Q , QV 9 , . The Lions coached by Earl Johnsmeyer, who has compiled an amazing record of 95 wins and 8 loses over a four year period, featured a well balanced attack to surprise all opposition, with three boys scoring over 200 points, during the season, and the two remaining members of the starting five scoring over one hundred. Also a surprising factor was the B team reserves who played well throu h the entire season, to win 9 games and lose 8. The annual staff and all tie students of L. H. S. are proud of the record compiled by the Lions this year, and wish them many more suc- cessful seasons. The Lions in winning 18 and losing 5, tied for the Championship of the T.C.L. and took top honors in the T. C.L. Tournament, third in the District Tournament at Perry and were invited to the Re ional Tournament at Eudora, where they were defeated by Spring Hill in the first round game. An interest- ing fact about the Lions was that they placed 4 boys out of the first 6 on the al tournament team in the T.C.L. Tournament. They were as follows: lack Asbury, who placed on the all star team for the second year, Ray Sherley, who was voted the most valuable player of the Tournament, Walt Taliaferro, and Garey Nicholas. Asbury, Sherley, and Taliaferro are all seniors, while Nif'b 4' 2 Sophomore. Ps L l- 52 .QT L BACK ROW: Forrest Parsons, Gary Schnieder, Earl Iohnsmeyer, Spence Forbach.
