DEDICATION Although we live in a war-torn world, we, American students, have known a feeling of comparative security, yet we are bewildered by the conditions about us and the events occurring in that World. Underneath this bewilderment is our conviction that the principles of Americanism, if applied to life, will help solve the problems. We, the graduating classes of Central l-ligh, hereby dedicate this, our Oracle, to those principles of Americanism, and ourselves to their application. MARY NYGARD. FOREWORD ...Students of Lansing Central, this i940 Oracle is now yours--yours to study and re-study as a memento of your high school career-yours to preserve forever in cherished possession. This edition of the Oracle is different from all previous editions, lt embraces no departmental faculty section-faculty members are grouped and pictured, accord- ing to extra-curricular interests. Since the usual distinction between Organizations and Activities is generally rather vague, this Oracle classifies ALL extra-curricular activities according to their respective purposes, the resulting seven divisions constituting the Extra-curricular section of this book. It is sincerely believed that the unique Senior Album page layouts are not too complicated to be easily decoded, Page Four
