Class Prophecy In my crystal ball at midnight on April IO, the eve of our departure for New York, I saw the strangest jumble of figures that ever appeared there. After my eyes grew accustomed to the brilliant light and colors, faces and figures that I knew be- gan to emerge. There on the deck of a great ship stood a beautiful blonde lady wear- ing a mink coat and orchids. Beside her was a portly gentleman dressed in well cut English Tweeds and sporting a snappy moustache and eye-glasses. Quite suddenly I recognized them, Patricia Uher of television fame and her manager, B. Norman Croft, who after extensive engineering training and many adventures in South Amer- ica, had returned to do a television show and had renewed his devotion to the Queen of the Video world. As they faded from view, I recognized two young women in the smartest of French uniforms, Jenny Myskow and Louise Sobol, holding the leashes of beautiful- ly matched pair of toy poodles. Well, naturally, they were always on those televi- sion shows. As I watched they turned and seemed to be searching for someone. Suddenly, Louise smiled and pointed to a handsome man in uniform, standing on the Captain's bridge. Well, of all things, Ken Teeter and looking every inch a com- mander of the situation. He gave them a quick salute and pointed toward the officer on the deck who was shaking hands with two men just coming on board each carry- ing a brief-case with large white letters V. M.. Why, that's A1 Moore and Rich- ard Rounds on their way to a world convention of veterinarians in Oslo. I can almost hear their voices as they shout, 6'I'Ii, Avery. I-Iow's everything? W'here,s Carolyn?,' Suddenly the brilliant light fades out and then glows, flickers and steadies to show the office of the new school which will be opened in 1965. No, it isn,t! It can't bel It is! Dr. Augustus C. Wolfe sitting at the superintendent's desk, in deep confer- ence with a tall man dressed in overalls. Dashing as ever, but still unmarried, he is talking about his young nephew who seems to be having difficulty with the second grade teacher, Miss Malley. Dr. Wolfe pushes a button, the door opens and in steps a very efficient secretary, Dolores Zifchock, wearing horn-rimmed spectacles. She smiles pleasantly. and leaves to call Miss Malley. As Jean comes in, she speaks at once for she seems to know exactly why she has been called. ulrIe's exactly like you Ed-that is his whole difficulty. Then all four burst into smiles and Ed said, HI just wanted to visit a little whilef' Guess I'11 go down to the cafeteria and see if there,s anything to eat. My, what a spotless kitchen! And who is that in charge, Blanche Mix? The food should be good and Rose Slovik in charge of the dining room. The outer door opens and School Nurse Carol Keim comes in from making her rounds to check sus- picious absences. All four sit at the kitchen table for a good cup of hot coffee. I am about to join them when-Brrl ring! ring! clatterl My goodness! six o'clock. ,lust thirty minutes to get to the bus and the Senior Trip. Such a restful night! ' f 20 l
