Sobol, B. Mix, C. Keim, J. Malley, D. Zifchock, V. Henderson Absent: P. Uher , The class of ,52 started out in their Freshman year with 33 students. Our advisor that year was Mrs. Norcross the school nurse. The people we elected as our class officers were: President, Dick Hill, Vice President, Albert Moore: Secretary, Dolores Zifchock, Treasurer, Patty Uher. At the beginning of our Sophomore year we chose as our class officers the following people: President, Bruce Croft, Vice Presi- dent, Gus Wolfe, Secretary, Dolores Zifchockg Treasurer, Patty Uher. Our advisor that year was Mr. Dickerman. At the beginning and during the year 10 students left our class-Fred Albanese, Harry Kelly, Albert Kelly, Dick Hill, Rich- ard Barnes, Dick Stark, Charles Philips, Larry Snyder, Byron Stone, and Betty Teeter. In May of our Sophomore year we picked out our class rings which we planned to get in our Junior year. In our Junior year Mrs. Alexander was our advisor and we elected these oliicers: President, Bruce Croftg Vice President, Rich- ard McMilling Secretary, Carol Stockton, Treasurer, Jean Malley. The big events in our Junior year were the Annual and the Junior Prom. We made most of our money that year on the An- g nual. During the year we put on a supper, a few vic dances and we 2 sold stationery. When sports began we sold pop and hot dogs at the games. This proved to be quite successful. In November we received our class rings. That year Dolores Eastman, Betty Oplinger, Henrietta Bachelor, Carol Stockton, Fred Swartwood and Richard McMillin left our class. At the beginning of our Senior year we elected these officers: President, Albert Moore, Vice President, Patty Uherg Secretary, Dolores Zifchockg Treasurer, Jean Malley. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander were our chap- erones on the trip to New York. Arrangements were made for the trip to New York by Van Zile tours at the beginning of the year and we made reservations to stay at the Hotel Chesterfield in New York. On April 11th we started from Syracuse on the special train for New York. On the way down we met students from other schools and we enjoyed the trip very much. While we were in New York we saw all of the customary sights of the city. When we had free time, shopping, movies, stage shows and students from other schools occupied our time. We all would have liked it if our stay in New York could have been extended but we were all happy to get home again. E101 BRUCE CROFT Here is one who'll be out for a good time at college Bruce . . . U91 Class Prophecy In my crystal ball at midnight on April IO, the eve of our departure for New York, I saw the strangest jumble of figures that ever appeared there. After my eyes grew accustomed to the brilliant light and colors, faces and figures that I knew be- gan to emerge. There on the deck of a great ship stood a beautiful blonde lady wear- ing a mink coat and orchids. Beside her was a portly gentleman dressed in well cut English Tweeds and sporting a snappy moustache and eye-glasses. Quite suddenly I recognized them, Patricia Uher of television fame and her manager, B. Norman Croft, who after extensive engineering training and many adventures in South Amer- ica, had returned to do a television show and had renewed his devotion to the Queen of the Video world. As they faded from view, I recognized two young women in the smartest of French uniforms, Jenny Myskow and Louise Sobol, holding the leashes of beautiful- ly matched pair of toy poodles. Well, naturally, they were always on those televi- sion shows. As I watched they turned and seemed to be searching for someone. Suddenly, Louise smiled and pointed to a handsome man in uniform, standing on the Captain's bridge. Well, of all things, Ken Teeter and looking every inch a com- mander of the situation. He gave them a quick salute and pointed toward the officer on the deck who was shaking hands with two men just coming on board each carry- ing a brief-case with large white letters V. M.. Why, that's A1 Moore and Rich- ard Rounds on their way to a world convention of veterinarians in Oslo. I can almost hear their voices as they shout, 6'I'Ii, Avery. I-Iow's everything? W'here,s Carolyn?,' Suddenly the brilliant light fades out and then glows, flickers and steadies to show the office of the new school which will be opened in 1965. No, it isn,t! It can't bel It is! Dr. Augustus C. Wolfe sitting at the superintendent's desk, in deep confer- ence with a tall man dressed in overalls. Dashing as ever, but still unmarried, he is talking about his young nephew who seems to be having difficulty with the second grade teacher, Miss Malley. Dr. Wolfe pushes a button, the door opens and in steps a very efficient secretary, Dolores Zifchock, wearing horn-rimmed spectacles. She smiles pleasantly. and leaves to call Miss Malley. As Jean comes in, she speaks at once for she seems to know exactly why she has been called. ulrIe's exactly like you Ed-that is his whole difficulty. Then all four burst into smiles and Ed said, HI just wanted to visit a little whilef' Guess I'11 go down to the cafeteria and see if there,s anything to eat. My, what a spotless kitchen! And who is that in charge, Blanche Mix? The food should be good and Rose Slovik in charge of the dining room. The outer door opens and School Nurse Carol Keim comes in from making her rounds to check sus- picious absences. All four sit at the kitchen table for a good cup of hot coffee. I am about to join them when-Brrl ring! ring! clatterl My goodness! six o'clock. ,lust thirty minutes to get to the bus and the Senior Trip. Such a restful night! ' f 20 l aww Juniors Back Row: S. Ofiicers were elected as follows: President-John Marchell Secretary-Leora Swayze Vice-President--Roger Hagin Treasurer-Luella McCarty Our money making prospects for the year consisted of two bake sales and two vie dances. Our Sophomore year brought us more activities than we had seen in our Fresh- man year. Cur money making projects consisted of a bake sale, a white elephant sale, five dances including a big Christmas dance, uChristmas Caperw, and selling name pins we made in the shop. Officers were elected as follows: President-John Marchell Secretary-Laura Malley Vice-President-J oe Trinkl Treasurer-Fannie McFeaters Our class advisor was Mr. Robert Macdonald. At the beginning of our Junior year We were all pleased to receive our class rings. So far this year we have had 3 dances. The Junior Prom is to be our big dance and will take place on May 17 with music furnished by Eddie Moore's Orchestra. Our big money making project for the year has been selling magazines. We set our goal at 3600 but we went way over that with a total of 376250. VV e had a contest between the boys and girls to see who could sell the most. The girls won, selling a total of 35582.25 while the boys sold 318025. Everyone did his best and we were all pleased with the results. Mary LaLonde won first prize for selling the most subscrip- tions, 311525, Barbara Davis was second, Leora Swayze third, and Margie Nedrow fourth. i 23 J l in in . 1952 Cayugan Staff Back Row: C. Mr. Macdonald Many problems confronted the Cayugan Staff at the beginning of the year. Be- cause the school day had been shortened to six periods all the work had to be done evenings and on Saturdays. Thursday night was NCayugan nightv and station Wagon trips often extended from Lansingville to North Lansing. Without the help of Dolor- es Zifchock driving Mr. Macdonaldis car in one direction with the school bus mak- ing an evening run in another, meetings would have been impossible. In spite of the handicaps the staff has enjoyed its work and while we eagerly await the arrival of the first copies from the printer We can truthfully say-Galt was Work, but it was FUN! The five candidates chosen by the class were: Barbara Davis, Mary LaLonde, Fannie lVlcFeaters, Carolyn Nadalin, and Leora Swayze. The date set for the dance is May l7th but at the time this is being written we don't know if the dance will be in the old gymnasium or the new cafeteria. Our theme song is 4'Deep Purple and our class flower, the lilac. We plan to decorate with purple and white and dance to the music of Eddie lVloore's orchestra. Two of the candidates, lVlary LaLonde and Leora Swayze, have been with the class since kindergarten, and two others, Fannie lVlcFeaters and Carolyn Nadalin, came from South Lansing to join the class in the fall of l94f8. Barbara Davis, came back to us in 1950 after attending King Ferry Central for three years. In order that the queen may be chosen, the class decided that those attending the dance should vote on the candidates already chosen. A couple's ticket will be worth two votes and a single's ticket worth one vote. The candidates have pictures, especially taken for the occasion, which will be on display at the door so that the Voters can choose from the contestants more easily. i24l , ff? si? We elected class officers as fol- lows: President-Carl Burke Vice-President-Frank Szalaiy Secretary-Marian Zifchock Treasurer-Frances Uher Miss Regan is our class advisor. After a few months elapsed we found it necessary to elect a new president because the former left school. At the following meeting we elected Christine Keim. We planned several class activities but most t of them were never carried through because of one thing or another. We planned a dance with an outside band but had to eliminate it because of difference in available dates be- tween the band and us, therefore, we had to hold a vic dance or nothing at all. We chose the Vic dance. We then had a dance planned for April 25th with the dance band playing, but had to cancel that because of the storage of materials in the gymnasium. Although we didn't sponsor much this year we took in a sufficient amount of dues to make up for it and expect to do better next year. E261 Freshmen Back Row: B. Moravia, W. Nedrow, D. Hans, J. Our class advisor is Mr. Parker. We planned an orchestra dance with the Lansing Stardusters for January 25th which we called 4'Snowflake Shufflen. This dance was later cancelled because of the construction in the gymnasium. The class then planned the Hlseap Year Frolicn, our dance which was held on February 29th. This turned out to be a big success and gave us a good start towards earning money for our big Senior trip.
