There- fore, we endeavor to brng to you a prophecy for the Class of I946. Unfortunately, we were unable to contact Father Time, so to me was assigned the task of finding out by hook or by crook what the future had in store for the members of the class. News came to me of a marvelous woman, Madam Eurt Ycehporp by name, lback- wards spells True Prophecyl who by looking into her crystal ball could see far into the future. Needless to say I lost no time in locating her. I stated my mission and was ushered into a room, in the center of which was a great crystal ball. Madame told me to con- centrate on it and I would see the future of my classmates pass as in a parade. The picture in the crystall ball began moving. There is the Stork Club, New York City. I see myself entering. Inside, the crowded ballroom rings with applause for the music of Tom Evans and his orchestra. Tom Bechtel is his solo trumpeter, Robert Stewart and John Haberchak are sharing honors on the trombone and Andy Bankus is playing the bass violin. Who is the singer? Why Arian Davis, of course! The young lady, guest of the orchestra leader, is none other than Emily Evans. Those two fellows at the door look familiar. Why, they are Eugene Macharsky and John Snoha, chief bouncers here. The scene in the ball changes and I find myself at Madison Square Garden where a boxing bout is scheduled. The world's heavyweight champion of the world, Joseph Skillan is defending his title. His manager and trainer are AI Zavis and John Maruschak, re- spectively. The referee is Fulvio Ranalli. Again the crystal ball becomes cloudy and a new scene emerges. Now I am in Cleveland, Ohio, at an amusement center conducted by Herbert Miller. His assistant is Thomas Edwards. Sophie Gorka, Bernadette Latka, and Ann Rogic act as their secretaries. Again the scene changes. Now we are whisked to sunny Florida. I am meeting the president of the Super Orange Juice Company, Bernard Eichenbaum. He is still taking it easy. Oh, ch, he seems perturbed! He shouts, Marcelline, did you send that crate of oranges to General John Gilbert at Fort Mead? So that's where John is! Marcelline Bozovich is assisted in her secretarial duties by Vivian Gardiner. From Florida the pictures within the crystal ball take me to Arizona. A huge, well- guarded government laboratory is before me. The two guards at the door are Joseph Svaidlenka and AI Serina. But wait! The crystal ball is taking me inside where I see Professor Milton Altschuler working on the new secret weapon, the molecular bullet. He is assisted by John Dedinsky, William Seniuk, and Margaret Pushcar. The scene changes once again. The place is world-famed Hollywood where we see the movie producers shooting a scene for a new picture, co-starring Mary Maiernik and Peggy Hudasky. Here comes Mary's manager, Stanley Frank. The director of the picture is none other than Richard Jones. He seems to have done O. K. for himself. The scenes change rapidly now. There is a ship at sea battling its way through a storm. Admiral Peter Yanetti is shouting orders to Vice-Admiral James Heffelfinger and Harry Sniscak. We look into the ship's quarters and see Allen Freyman and his secretary, Margaret Bartek. Allen is on his way to London to represent the U. S. at the meeting of the United Nations. The scene shifts back again to Florida to a Health Sanitarium, managed by Rachael Jeffries. Her assistants are Bertha Kakos and Mildred Schasney. The nurses are Ann Lendacky and Irene Gazo. The chef is Catherine Pavlik. In the ball, a new image takes formation. I am transported to the Lyric Theatre in Philadelphia. The manager is none other than Peter Herbert. His secretary is Helen COHEN'S SHOPPE Specializing in s'1'Un1cN'rs' -.11rNmn MISS - INFANTS' mul m'r11l,1m1+:N's WEAR 000 I,.XNSI ORl7, PA. Plmm- H3-J NYIIGII BllyiI1,E.f FllI'Ilitlll'f', See H. They are surrounded by an excellent supporting cast which includes Dolores Setar, Ann Kozik, and Mary Sisko. The next picture takes me to Washington, D. C. It is the headquarters of the F. B. I. What could bring me here? I shall soon find out. l am entering the building. There is the office of the Chief of the F. B. I. Why it is Michael Herbert! So he has made good. I always knew he would since he was captain of the safety patrol at L. H. S. back in l946. Some special agents have iust come in. Among them I recognize Andrew Steranka. The secretaries in the office are Regina Lawrence and Doris Gangaware. The next picture is that of the football stadium at Harvard. As I look closer I see Coach William Perbetsky. He is being ably assisted by Frank Repinec. Ted Kobetic, star of the Chicago Bears is standing near by, giving a few pointers on professional football. Now there is a new formation apparent in the crystal ball. I see a beautiful estab- lishment in Boston. lt is a beauty salon managed by Mary Alice Sassaman and Marion Shober. Nora Zwolenik, Evelyn Kuchta and Irene Yanischeck are hurrying about. Eleanor Haluska is the receptionist. Two young ladies are walking toward her. They are Margaret Sniscak and Faye Morgans. Across the street from the beauty salon is a restaurant. It is owned by Elias Shears. The restaurant's specialty is eggs in all styles. His chief waitress is Mary Matta. The chief cook is Elizabeth Strauss. Her assistants are Mildred Marouchak and Betty Stanko. As other waitresses hurry back and forth I recognize Paulette Schasney, Eleanor Matta, and Mary Oblas. And now there is a complete change of scenery. I see a dancing school in New York City. The owner is Helen Koshuta. Betty Wargo is chief instructress. Both are non- chalantly twirling batons as they give instructions to Rose Hutta, Marie Kalny, and Irene Shears. Across the street we see a modern dress shop owned by Judith PoKempner. Her assistants are Marion Delaurentis and Diane Heffelfinger. They are discussing the latest designs in dresses. Their models appear. I recognize them as Rose Stianche, Joyce Paullis, and Eleanor Daniels. With that array of talent, business should be very good. The crystal ball is again clouding up. As it clears, the scene is vaguely familiar. Why, yes! lt is Lansford, the year l962. As I look carefully, I see the results of the recent local election. Teddy Macenka was elected Mayor of the town by a large maiority, Aloysius Lesko and Dominic Kubica were elected to the city council. The chief of police, Harold Freyman, is doing an excellent iob in crushing the recent crime wave in this area. Miss Kathryn Christ was elected tax-collector. Joseph Yanacek has recently been ap- pointed Postmaster. Bright's Department Store continues to thrive, but why not? Thomas Remmel is the new manager. Robert Jones has been appointed advertising manager. New clerks and department managers are Anna Dobda, Agnes Chaballa, and Joan Rogic. The Evening Record has increased its circulation. No wonder! Edward Gildea is the editor. He has added several special columns, which include a woman's page. Oh yes! leave it to Edward to take care of the women. Two of the reporters are Mildred Kudella and Betty Jubick. Wow! He even added women to his staff. Here are two other interesting items, Stephen Yurick is head of Yurick's Bakery now, and Harold Fessler is the new president of the Dime Bank. Well, it looks as though the town of Lansford has become a thriving little city. At this point the crystal clouds up for the last time. The prophecy is complete. And as I report it to you, may I say, Good luck to you, dear Class of 46. Charles Gray Bastian Bros. Co. lirwxll-:s'rlcI:, N. Y.
