classes help youngsters prepare Junior chefs capture kitchen efficiency' in cook- ing classes under the watchful eye of Miss Mar- garet Stevens. Turning tempting recipes to de- licious dishes is not the only boast of these young gourmets. for they' also learn to operate automatic washers. dryers. and ironers well as to store up useful knowledge for other phases of home-mak- ing. Teen-age cooking creations also add a tasty' touch to tables of school banquets and teas. Not to be outdone. a number of boys 132 jun- for home life iors and seniorsl turn their talents to cooking delectable delicacies. Meeting in two groups on Thursdays and Fridays, the hungry' chefs. armed with kitchen implements. turn out anything from soup to nuts. The culinary' crew also caters at the annual schoolboard banquet and at a local school superintendents' dinner. BUSINESS QIVGS bnght outlook for the future After introductory courses. which center around bookkeeping and general business in his freshman and sophomore years. a student may select either the clerical. secretarial. or distributive education program. Each year an increasing number of academic students tttrn to the commercial depart- ment to learn such basic skills as typing and short- hand. yyhich yvill help them in the future. As members of the distributive education cur- riculum. students attend school in the morning and yxork in the afternoon under the supervision of Miss Mildred Ankeney. Secretarial courses include oflice training. typing. stenography. and bookkeeping. Commercial math. otlice training. bookkeeping. salesmanship and business layv. and typing are clerical courses offered. During the year Commercial Instructors Mr. Roy' Kraber. Mrs. Janet Felter. and Mr. Eduard Kologie arrange visits to oflices. factories. and plants in the Philadelphia area. These tours give students an opportunity' to observe the business world in action and to note the increasing jobs which are available. -ff
