Seniors devote an entire year to the worthy Eng- lish authors who enrich our lives with their in- tluence. A young man or woman who is willing to invest a little time and etlort now' need never be embar- rassed to hear someone say. ls he speaking Eng- lishl' lt sounds more like Greek to me. Words really never fail if one takes time now to build a good background in vocabulary and a firm knowl- edge of culture and history from reading. We are so close to all the world. and yet we feel that we must build more machines to protect us from our world neighbors. ln spite of this closeness. a breach exists. Perhaps. in a word, we do not speak the same language as our neighbors.
