HE door IS about to open as we the Class of 53 prepare to step over 1lS threshold ol opportun1ty and take our places 1n the world For some formal school1ng 1S soon to be a th1ng of the past wh1le for others the vast knowledge to be explored 1n h1gher 1nst1tut1ons IS awa1t 1ng them Fundamentally we all have the same hrm toundat1on Our teachers have endeavored to 1nst1ll 1n us a sense of respons1b1l1ty to others so that we may learn to give and not just take We have been taught the pr1nc1ples of self government and the 1deal that all men regardless of race creed or color are st1ll brothers and are all equal 1n the eyes of their Maker Athlet1cs and other extuzcurncular QCUVIHGS have proven that al though opportun1ty may seldom knock when 1t does 1t must be recogn1zed as such and be accepted as a chal lenge. As the day of departure draws nearer may we leave these halls ol learning with enough sentimentality to inspire us to do always the things that will make our Alma Mater proud of us. Then as we take our places in our own walks of lite may we strive to do our best to perform constantly the acts of chivalry and to serve mankind eternally for he does not live more who lives longer.
