IOR CL SS Graduationl The day has come when the Class of 1950 must go forth to meet the problems of the world. As in the days of the bliddle Ages, we ap- prentices are trying to reach our goal-to be masters in our respective fields. Graduation is but the first step toward this end. To summarize our years at LHS, we must go back to that fateful Christmas in 1946, when we were forced to continue our freshman year at the senior high school building because of the fire that struck the junior high school building. That semes- ter became a memory of scorched books and mixed- up schedules until we finally got straightened out. ln our sophomore year we became used to the regular systems and schedules of high school life. VVe elected as our officers, Paul Fehnel, president, Vernon Horn, vice-presidentg Pat Carrigan, secre- tary, Kenneth Schmidt, treasurer: and bliss llor- othy Nagle, adviser. blany members of our class found time to participate in sports and other activi- ties, and in February we had fun planning our first dance, The Leap Year Chase. At the beginning of our junior year we elected Frank Nicolino, president, Kenneth Schmidt, vice- president g Joan Piston, secretary 3 and George Leach, treasurer. VVith the departure of bliss Nagle, we elected blr. Charles Kinter as adviser. Our dances included The Junior Jump -our fall dance after Thanksgiving day, and in December, our first for- mal, The Junior bliss Dance, when Jeanne Schmidt was crowned Junior bliss of 19-18. ln the spring we were busy planning for the Junior Prom, which was held at bVillow Grove Park Ballroom, and starred Clarence Fuhrman and his orchestra. And then-seniors! Time flies so quicklyl Our officers were Kenneth Schmidt, president, Allen bloyer, vice-president, blatilda blonat, secretary, and Betty Panter, treasurer. Our class members proved themselves valuable in many sports and ac- tivities throughout their life as seniors. ln Novem- ber we sponsored the Holiday Hop, and in blarch, the Club Aqua, another orchestra dance. As early as February you could hear groups of seniors talking about the bVashington trip which became a reality on blay 18, 19, and 20. Before we knew it, we were marching down the aisle for Vesper Service on june 11, and finally graduation on June 13. The climax of our activities came on June 15, when we were together at the Senior Ball, held at the blanufacturer's Country Club. YVith the last goodbyes ringing in our ears, we are conscious of our goal, and shall remember the part that LHS has played in its achievement. Sflllltffllflf Merrill Bishop, Treas.: Mr. Rus- sell Fisher, Advis- C'I'. UNIOR CLASS Upon entering LHS in September I9-W, one hun- dred fifty-four juniors began the year by organizing their class. The following were elected to be their leaders: James Curley, presidentg James Bean, vice- presidentg Fay Heebner, secretaryg and Klerrill Bishop, treasurer. Klr. Russell Fisher continued as their class adviser. Many of the juniors were active in the field of sports and proved to be a great asset to the athletic teams. The musically inclined members of the class joined the band and a cappella choirg others proved themselves capable on staffs of literary publications and in the various clubs. Klany members of the class took part in the operetta and the annual play. In many ways the group gave its support to the school's activities and organizations. The juniors also contributed to the social life of LHS by sponsoring several successful dances. Ar the annual Christmas formal, Fay Heebner was crowned Junior Bliss of 19-l9, and she and her escort Phil Richart reigned supreme. The Junior Prom, held on llay 26 at VVillow Grove Park Ball- room, proved to be a fitting climax for their social events of the year. The Class of '51 has played an important part in all our days at LHS. We wish them much suc- cess as seniors. Frm! Rfmc: N. liuuth, F. lleelmer, R. l,ES2lIlll5, N. liruhnm, wha-id, lf. SOPHOMORE CLASS The Sophomore Class of the I9-l9-50 term started and continued its school year very successfully. The one hundred sixty-seven members of this class elected llr. Karl A. Thompson as their faculty adviserg Fred Shisler, presidentg Richard Saltmer, vice- presidentg Doris Hespell, secretaryg and Kenneth Kriebel, treasurer. The 'lsophsn supported and proved themselves to be proficient in the various extra-curricular activities Lansdale High School had to offer. The fellows made a good showing on the football and cross country teams and the girls did likewise on the hockey team in the fall season. During the winter they supported the basketball teams, and when spring arrived there were many tenth graders who reported for track, baseball, and tennis. Besides participating in sports, there were about twenty sophomores in the band and choir. The Nonet consisted entirely of sophomore girls. Three from this class were included in the Bux-llont Band-Fred Shisler, K. Kriebel, and Yvonne Destout. They were also represented in the high school play, the operetta, and many of the clubs. One of the most spectacular dances of the year, Cupid's Fling, was sponsored by these lads and lasses. The decorations were extraordinarily beauti- ful and original, and showed a great deal of time and preparation. The music was furnished by Fred Benner and his orchestra. Yes, these sophs certainly started their high school days off with a bang. Here's hoping that all the rest of their days in LHS will be just as suc- cessful. l ir,1f Rnfu'.' H.
