I-IICI-ILIC-I-ITSOFLANSDALEHICIH Standinglfrom Iett.to right: Willis C. Bartholomew, Ralph R. Smith, William J. Zimmerman. Seated from left to right: Edwin P. Gotwals, Mrs. Helen N. Ridington, Rev, L. S. Hoffman, Mrs. Katharine D. Jones and Harrv I-lunsberger. APPRECIATION OF THE COST OF EDUCATION Greetings to the class of l939 on their successful completion ot the various prescribed courses in the Public Schools of Lansdale. Approximately 25M ot local and State taxes are required to maintain our Elementary and High Schools and perhaps you may not have given much thought to the fact that your parents have made this possible by payment ot these taxes, often at a great sacrifice but without which public schools could not function. The cost of educating the youth of Lansdale is less than SIOO. per year for each pupil, which cannot be disputed as being excessive for such a valuable investment. The Lansdale Board of Education is continually striving to offer the best educational facilities possible by furnishing modern buildings and equipment. lvly sincere wish is that all of you shall have a happy and suc- cessful career. E. P. C-otwals, Treas. U03

O ENTHIRTY-NlNl:l gag? t, in it t may it it it ti i v l l l Kg My Message to You, Class of l939: - Those of us who have been your educational guides and friends during the twelve years of your life in school are very anxious that you, as members of our largest class to date, will make a favorable impres- sion upon the hundreds of persons who already hold certificates ot graduation from the Lansdale High School. lt may be that the world does not await your coming with the same eagerness and enthusiasm as it has awaited other graduates before your time. How- ever, there is still room for you if you are willing to put forth the necessary effort. Far too many people today have run up the flag of the spirit's surrender. You can help, it you will, to correct this very serious menace to the foundations of what has always been considered to be the American way of life. We shall be watching patiently and sympathetic- ally as you struggle to achieve success with yourselves. Ralph R. Smith, Supt. UU
