Annum SHIPP Maintenance Staff Indispensable Visitors to Lanphier are welcomed lay clean blackboards, polished Hoors, and neat halls. These in themselves are positive proof of the conscientious maintenance staff. Called upon countless times a day to perform numerous tasks, they cheerfully and willingly give their assistance. Their services, which are often taken for granted, are indispensable. XYhen students carelessly litter the halls and classrooms, they never stop to think of the extra work this causes for the maintenance staff. Not enough thanks can be given to them for their unceasing work to make Lanphier a better and more comfortable school. Cafeteria Staff Performs Daily Miracle The task of the cafeteria staff is to serve meals to nearly one thousand Lanphier students each day during a forty minute period. The staff performs this seemingly impossible task with remarkable skill and efficiency. The student who patronizes the cafeteria may always be sure that his meal will be well-balanced and attractively presented. ef, . , This was the third year in which Lanphier students went across the way to Edison ,lunior Highs cafeteria for their meals. However, it was certainly worth that short trip each day to enjoy the tasty food prepared by the remarkable cafeteria staff. The cafeteria staff should be commended for the task which they have unfailinglv performed throughout the school year. . 3 cv T err A My I N , . , - rs 'NG , e., 'f ..:.,a,a4,3 .gs-:. The second purpose expressed in this motto is accomplished by courses in physical education here at Lanphier. For one period on alternate days. students meet in the school gymnasium and balance their mental exer- cise yvith physical exercise. Activities in these courses also teach students the virtues of coopera- tion and fair play. The excellence of our physical education pro- gram is evidenced by our fine attendance record. Being in perfect health, lianphier students rarely miss a day of school. Why are you hiding under the table, Nliss Garrison? Saving lives and preventing accidents are the main goals of drivers' training. Sophomores are noyv required to take the course for six yveeks. During this period they learn the basic rules of safe driving and must be able to recognize the various traffic signs. After taking the classroom phase of drivers' training some students are given actual behind- the-vvheel experience. In order to obtain their drivers' licenses the students must pass a written examination. Besides being careful drivers, they must also learn to be courteous. It has been found that students taking this course are in feyver accidents than those not taking it. Allah, Allah, Allah!
