Our Fine Arts Department offers courses in vocal music, instru- mental music, art, and foreign languages. For the student who has a good voice which he enjoys using, Miss Duncan's courses in vocal music are an enjoyable experience. Students with the best voices are admitted into the A Cap- pella Choir. Other students may enroll in senior choir to perfect their voices until they are acceptable for A Cappella. Courses in instrumental music, under the direction of Mr. Garlanger, develop talents in Lanphier students and produce the Lanphier Band, known for its polished performances. The art courses at lsanphier, taught by Mr. Mullinix, develop creative talents in our students. Latin, French, and Spanish, all taught by Miss Furlich, enable the student to develop his talents in foreign languages. No, I won't give up my teddy bear. Are you two going steady yet? if 27

The second purpose expressed in this motto is accomplished by courses in physical education here at Lanphier. For one period on alternate days. students meet in the school gymnasium and balance their mental exer- cise yvith physical exercise. Activities in these courses also teach students the virtues of coopera- tion and fair play. The excellence of our physical education pro- gram is evidenced by our fine attendance record. Being in perfect health, lianphier students rarely miss a day of school. Why are you hiding under the table, Nliss Garrison? Saving lives and preventing accidents are the main goals of drivers' training. Sophomores are noyv required to take the course for six yveeks. During this period they learn the basic rules of safe driving and must be able to recognize the various traffic signs. After taking the classroom phase of drivers' training some students are given actual behind- the-vvheel experience. In order to obtain their drivers' licenses the students must pass a written examination. Besides being careful drivers, they must also learn to be courteous. It has been found that students taking this course are in feyver accidents than those not taking it. Allah, Allah, Allah!
