The English Depart- ment has made this possible. Since the general level of reading ability has been noticeably lower, work in remedial reading has been introduced. Good reading habits are as important an achievement for school success as clever passing on the gridiron. Good reading habits must be established before we can appreciate the literature courses offered to upper classmen. Most inlportant are they. if we are to appreciate good argu- ment in debating. the radio. movie. or newspaper.
